The Mighty Ducks (-120)
Fertilizin’ Eggs (-120)
Over 8.0 Goals (-105)
Under 8.0 Goals (-135)
Notes: This is sort of an absurd over/under to set for a semifinal game between two teams with good goalies but after the two regular season meetings between these teams ended 5-4 and 7-6 for an average of 11 goals per game, I almost wonder if 8 is too low. When it comes to the winner…the public seems pretty set.
Egg remains the overwhelming favorite to advance despite the Ducks taking the season series 2-0, thus handing yellow two of their only three losses on the entire season. They also won two playoff games last week without Satok, who will be in the lineup for this one, although they’ll have to win tonight without Russ and Avik. Still, they finished the regular season with more wins than any team and added two more last night. That means that while all three of the other teams playing tonight have 7 wins on the season, the Ducks have already racked up 10. If they win the cup I actually think they will set a record for most wins in a regular D5 season with 12 (the only team that would have more was the Sexy Ducks who were not just possibly the best D5 team of all time but also played in a post-covid extra long 15 game season). It’s a very difficult game to predict; the top of the Egg lineup is obviously stronger as they sold the farm in the draft to make it happen, but the Ducks have won with depth and grit all season. A game that is likely to come down to the goalies, despite (or maybe because of) the 8 goal over/under. I know you’re waiting for me to make my pick, but I honestly have no idea. Ask Simon.
The Pie Pie Strikes Back (+135)
Sex Education (-200)
Over 6.5 Goals (-110)
Under 6.5 Goals (-130)
Notes: A rematch (kind of) of last year’s championship. I say kind of because while the franchises/colors are the same, the personnel is completely different so for most players it’s not really a rematch at all. But with Pie Pie rocking two final four appearances in two seasons since the fat cat went to that great litterbox in the sky and blue on their 14th straight final four appearance dating back to the pre-covid days, it’s a high quality matchup between two of the deepest teams in the league. So what do the people say?
Once again, the people are a sucker for the higher seed as they have been in literally every game this entire playoff run. That said, this game is likely to be closer than people think. Orange isn’t the same team that lost 4 of their first 5 and honestly could have won several of those games. With two playoff wins last week, they are hot and with Gelman and James feeling themselves, anything can happen. With strong defensive units and goalies on both sides, it’s probably the under for me. Jack would hate it.

Notes: Despite the seedings, the final four teams are the four teams that received the most votes for the Cup: blue, yellow, light green and orange. Who will take it down?
For the first time in this entire poll, the fans did not just go by seeding as the 2 gets a few more votes than the 1 while both the 5 and 6 got more votes than the 3 and 4. Will the fans be right? Will blue win their 2nd straight? Will Egg pick up their 2nd cup in four seasons? Will Pie Pie or Ducks complete the Cinderella story? Only one way to find out: get your ass to the rink tonight and to Dorrian’s after. Or tune in on the stream, but that’s not quite as exciting. See ya tonight.
