Hockey at Glatt’s (-2.0 Goals) (-230)
The UMass Football Team (+2.0 Goals) (+150)
Over 8.0 Goals (-120)
Under 8.0 Goals (-120)
Notes: At full strength, despite the vast standings discrepancy, I think this would be one hell of a matchup. Not many teams have the firepower to hang with Glatt’s but between Jo and Joe, plus Campbell in net, a full strength UMass could pull it off. Sadly, however, Joe is out tonight as are Russo, Source and Metz. Campbell does get his second start of the season in goal but regardless, this is an extremely difficult challenge for a shorthanded UMass team that has already been kind of struggling to find chemistry. I do think this game has the potential to be much closer than you might think but all those absences loom extremely large for the minutemen. Public will no doubt be all over Glatt’s but I think UMass finds a way to cover.
The Phantom Pie Pie (-2.0 Goals) (-120)
Bruise Control (+2.0 Goals) (-120)
Over 7.0 Goals (-110)
Under 7.0 Goals (-130)
Notes: At first glance this seems like it should be one of the lowest scoring games of the season with Will and Carl, two of the season’s top goalies, squaring off in a matchup that could very well determine the season’s Vezina winner. Than again it’s Friday night and those games do typically average far more goals than Tuesdays. On top of that, Bramson and Craig have both been scoring a bunch this season. A tough game to handicap for many reasons, both in terms of total and the winner, but Rose being out sways this a bit for me. Purple has told me that my lines on them have been off all season and they have a point, but this is a really tough task against an undefeated team. 4-2 orange.
Hockey at Glatt’s (-2.5 Goals) (EVEN)
Chappell Red (+2.5 Goals) (-145)
Over 8.5 Goals (-120)
Under 8.5 Goals (-120)
Notes: These teams met in the second game of the season and it was a wild one. Glatt’s jumped out to a 2-0 lead, red scored four straight to take a 4-2 lead and then Glatt’s scored the final four goals of the game en route to an eventual 6-4 victory. On paper, it looks like they’re going to roll to another win here, being undefeated on the season while red is currently in last. But I actually think red is going to keep this one close, partially because they’re a proud franchise, partially becuase there’s no way they’re a last place team and partially because I think Campbell’s going to make some adjustments to make sure they don’t give up so many goals. Glatt’s still favored for the W, but I’m taking red to cover.
Bruise Control (-230)
Chappell Red (+150)
Over 7.5 Goals (+140)
Under 7.5 Goals (-200)
Notes: This would have been an unthinkable line early in the season but purple is red hot (no pun intended) with four straight wins by a 16-4 margin. In fact, even their early season losses look far better in retrospect as Glatt’s remains undefeated while the Pranksters have proven themselves to be a top team all season long. Red, on the other hand, has only played three games and while they do have a 3-0 lead against Street Meat in a game that needs to be completed, the loss to MilkMob last week was rough and caused more trash talk on instagram than I’ve ever seen in this league. On top of that, these teams met just last week with Carl notching his first shutout of the season in a 3-0 win. I think this one is certainly closer than a 5/12 matchup might seem and I wouldn’t be surprised to see red pull the upset, but purple has to be favored. The under is my personal bet for this contest.
The Phantom Pie Pie (-3.0 Goals) (-230)
Baja Blast (+3.0 Goals) (+150)
Over 8.0 Goals (-125)
Under 8.0 Goals (-115)
Notes: Green’s tough season of attendance rolls on as they’ll have to play this one without Donny, Neil and captain Jake himself, although they do have Mo making his season debut and boy has Baja missed him dearly. Orange won’t have Bedsy in the lineup but I’m not sure it matters with the way they’ve been rolling through the season with a perfect 6-0 record and a +22 goal differential. Anything can happen on a Friday night, particularly in the late game, but orange has a real chance to be the first undefeated team since the league’s first season when we only played a six game season. I think they keep it rolling here. See ya @ Dorrian’s.
