3rd Period:
LLA (4-4) – Joel (1) (assisted by Hilary) (1:21)
LLA (5-4) – Andrew (1) (assisted by Annie) (2:56)
GAME NOTES: Despite a painful season that saw them missing the most man-games of any team in the league (sorry Jess – “person-games”), purple somehow takes 2 out of 3 games over black to win the Kingdom Cup. Jack may be on the Hippos now but after the game he could be heard to remark “some things never change,” although this comment might have been in reference to his own lack of backchecking during the game.
THREE STARS OF THE GAME:
3rd – Hicks (2G)
2nd – Andrew (GWG, A)
1st – Annie (1G, 2A)

MRP (10-0) – Matt Reape (6) (assisted by Matt Stabel) (6:00)
MRP (11-0) – Scott Storer (4) (assisted by Dom) (9:31)
GAME NOTES: The most lopsided game in D5 history as despite having Tash and Dave Liang sub and Simon in net, the shorthanded Mensches somehow let MelRose put up a record setting 11 goals en route to a blowout win for the ages. Oy gevalt!
THREE STARS OF THE GAME:
3rd – Scott Storer (3G)
2nd – Dom (2G, 3A)
1st – Ryan Levine (3G, 2A)

3rd Period:
JFC (5-0) – Rob Meehan (1) (assisted by Jo Robin) (6:48)
PRK (1-5) – Pete Slife (3) (PP) (assisted by Sam Gelman) (12:10)
GAME NOTES: This was a much anticipated matchup between two top teams but with Derek a last minute scratch the line moved significantly towards orange and with good reason. They dominated this game start-to-finish en route to a 5-1 victory.
THREE STARS OF THE GAME:
3rd – Keith (1G)
2nd – Jo Robin (3A)
1st – Justin Mazzaro (3G)
Green Street Hooligans vs Red Zeppelin
1st Period:
RED (1-0) – Joe Magosin (5) (assisted by Tarnow) (6:02)
RED (2-0) – Carter (7) (assisted by Tarnow) (10:03)
RED (3-0) – Carter (8) (assisted by Joe Magosin) (13:21)
2nd Period:
RED (4-0) – Carter (9) (assisted by Joe Magosin) (4:24)
3rd Period:
GSH (1-4) – Aryeh Minsky (3) (assisted by Tom McGuire) (13:26)
GAME NOTES: The most exciting part of this game was when Yehuda supermax bet green +3, then spent the entire 3rd period cherrypicking and trying desperately to get that goal for a push. He didn’t, but was rewarded anyways when Minsky buried one with 34 seconds left. Told by me of what happened after the game, Aryeh said he would have purposely shot the ball wide had he known about the bet.
THREE STARS OF THE GAME:
3rd – Tarnow (2A)
2nd – Joe Magosin (1G, 2A)
1st – Carter (3G)
Vegas Golden Knights vs Hubba Bubba
1st Period:
HUB (1-0) – Mike Stern (8) (assisted by Mike Wright) (5:01)
3rd Period:
HUB (2-0) – Justin McNeil (3) (unassisted) (1:17)
HUB (3-0) – Mike Wright (1) (assisted by Alex Rockoff) (4:15)
HUB (4-0) – Mike Stern (9) (unassisted) (7:30)
VGK (1-4) – Matt Russo (2) (assisted by Joe Moskowitz) (9:49)
HUB (5-1) – Mike Stern (10) (assisted by Rose) (11:43)
GAME NOTES: Vegas was looking for revenge for a surprising loss to pink earlier in the season but with a short lineup, they were no match for a motivated Hubba Bubba team. Even with Neil, Stern put up a hat trick and pink put up a convincing and impressive 5-1 win.
THREE STARS OF THE GAME:
3rd – Justin McNeil (GWG)
2nd – Simon (W, 1 GA)
1st – Stern (3G)

Green Street Hooligans vs Vegas Golden Knights
1st Period:
GSH (1-0) – Cherie (1) (assisted by Aryeh) (6:01)
2nd Period:
GSH (2-0) – Aryeh (4) (assisted by Tommy) (2:18)
VGK (1-3) – Alex (1) (assisted by Jason Campbell) (4:27)
GSH (3-1) – Gil (5) (assisted by Cherie) (5:08)
3rd Period:
VGK (2-3) – Joe (3) (assisted by Jason Campbell) (2:06)
GSH (4-2) – Tommy (2) (EN) (assisted by Ashkon) (13:04)
GSH (5-2) – Cherie (2) (EN) (assisted by Gil) (13:56)
GAME NOTES: Cherie subbed in for green while Alex and KG subbed for Vegas. More importantly, perhaps, both Yehuda and Rich missed this game leaving Amanda in charge. Green responded by putting up their strongest effort of the season and holding off a late Vegas surge en route to a 5-2 win that, incredibly, moves them out of the play-in bracket.
THREE STARS OF THE GAME:
3rd – Gil (GWG, 1A)
2nd – Cherie (2G, 1A)
1st – Jacob Geskin (W, 2 GA)
Vegas Golden Knights vs Blueberry Bulldogs
1st Period:

VGK (3-0) – Jason Campbell (10) (assisted by Joe) (2:11)
VGK (4-0) – Shirtless Minsky (1) (assisted by Jack Carroll) (4:04)
VGK (5-0) – Jason Campbell (11) (unassisted) (7:04)
VGK (6-0) – Shitless Minsky (2) (assisted by Jason Campbell) (9:58)
3rd Period:
VGK (7-0) – Tommy (1) (assisted by KG) (3:52)
GAME NOTES: This game was close after one but a five goal 2nd period by the Golden Knights blew this game wide open and gave them a convincing win while giving blue only their 2nd loss. of the season. Jason Campbell put up 5 points and briefly took the lead in the scoring race. I say briefly because what happened in the next game was truly electric and/or shady (depending on which side of the prop bet you were on).
THREE STARS OF THE GAME:
3rd – Shirtless Aryeh Minsky (2G)
2nd – Simon (W, SO)
1st – Jason Campbell (3G, 2A)

HIP (10-6) – Adam Satok (14) (EN) (unassisted) (13:09)
HIP (11-6) – Adam Satok (15) (EN) (assisted by Jeff Oberg) (13:46)
GAME NOTES: The first 16:10 of this game was played on 7/7 with the remainder completed on Friday night. The common theme: goals. 4-1 when the game was stopped, this ended up tying a league record for goals in a game off the strength of an eight goal third period which gave the Hippos the 6 seed…in one of the shadiest events in league history, Satok won the scoring title on the back of two empty netters in the final minute of play when white left their goalie pulled down 3 and then 4 goals. I would not be surprised to see massive live bets on Satok scoring title coming in from fake IP addresses in Montreal right around 8:10. Needless to say, there will be a full investigation into Simon, Satok and anyone else involved in these shenanigans.
THREE STARS OF THE GAME:
3rd – Jeff Oberg (1G)
2nd – Him (2A)
1st – Adam Satok (2G)

MNS (6-4) – Tommy Covelli (1) (EN) (assisted by James P) (13:52)
GAME NOTES: The Mensches rolled up to this game with arguably their tightest lineup of the season and it showed as they played their best game as a team and held off a late surge from pink to pick up their first W of the season and bust parlays everywhere.
THREE STARS OF THE GAME:
3rd – James P (1G, 1A)
2nd – Neil (2G)

VGK (7-1) – Tash (5) (assisted by Brett Marks) (10:47)
GAME NOTES: White was fired up for this game with a chance to avoid the play-ins altogether but orange was just too strong and dominated start to finish en route to an easy 7-1 win that moves them up to top 3 seeding.
THREE STARS OF THE GAME:
3rd – Brett Marks (3A)
2nd – AJ (W, 1 GA)
1st – Tash (2G)
Blueberry Bulldogs vs The Mighty Mensches
1st Period:

3rd Period:
MNS (1-3) – Etan (2) (assisted by Tommy) (8:58)
MNS (2-3) – James P (5) (assisted by Tommy) (10:22)
GAME NOTES: Fresh off their first victory of the season, the Mensches put up a spirited effort in this one in coming within a goal of beating the first place Bulldogs. We didn’t know it at the time, but blue would have maintained their hold on 1st even with a loss here because of orange’s shootout victory over red. Still, blue takes care of business here with a very tight 3-2 win in their regular season finale.
THREE STARS OF THE GAME:
3rd – James P (1G)
2nd – Wes (1G)
1st – Richard (GWG)

Shootout Winner By Keith
GAME NOTES: Orange needed a win in regulation to move up to 2nd and almost came all the way back to do so, but once the game went to OT the Zeppelin clinched the 2 seed. Then there was an OT with an incredible amount of penalties and a shootout that felt like it would never end. After either 10 or 12 or 200 rounds, Keith was up and Meehan received +400 on him to score on the attempt. Incredibly he did and AJ made the final save to give orange the W in the Summer 2023 regular season finale and send them into the playoffs on a four game winning streak.
THREE STARS OF THE GAME:
3rd – Nate (2G)
2nd – Jo Robin (2G)
1st – Keith (Shootout Winner)
