The Golden Gods vs The Big Green

1st Period:
BGRN (1-0) – Emma (12) (assisted by Shua) (4:54)
2nd Period:
GOLD (1-1) – Mitch (1) (assisted by Jared) (3:44)
3rd Period:
BGRN (2-1) – Shua (6) (assisted by Jess) (1:16)
GOLD (2-2) – Ryann (1) (PP) (assisted by Alex) (12:18)
Overtime:
BGRN (3-2) – Amit (1) (assisted by Emma) (0:17)

GAME NOTES:
The second consecutive D5 game between these teams as they wrapped up the Friday night slate and opened up Tuesday. And while you might expect a game between the top team in the standings and one of the teams fighting to escape the play-ins to be a blowout, both games were extremely tight, this one even moreso than Friday’s contest. But as they’ve been wont to do all season, green found a way to win, this time just 17 seconds into an OT period played on a surprisingly slippery court considering it hadn’t rained in several days. 3-2 Big Green as they look to clinch top two seeding and a direct bye to the final four with one regulation win in their final two games.

THREE STARS OF THE GAME:
3rd – Shua (1G, 1A)
2nd – Amit (GWG)
1st – Emma (1G, 1A)

The Golden Gods vs Red Bunny

1st Period:
GOLD (1-0) – Ryann (2) (assisted by Harki) (6:00)
3rd Period:
GOLD (2-0) – Mitch (2) (assisted by Jordan) (1:29)
GOLD (3-0) – Joe Haar (1) (assisted by Mason) (2:51)
GOLD (4-0) – Eli (2) (unassisted) (5:21)

GAME NOTES:
A potential play-in preview featuring two of the top goalies in the league ends with a 4-0 win for the Golden Gods as they score midway through the first and add three more in the final stanza. Big win for yellow as a regulation win on the season’s final day would give them a real chance to get out of the first play-in.

THREE STARS OF THE GAME:
3rd – Mitch (1G)
2nd – Ryann (GWG)
1st – Tyler (W, SO)

Bruger King vs Sgt. Siwash

1st Period:
SGT (1-0) – Lucas (6) (unassisted) (11:27)
SGT (2-0) – Hootie (6) (assisted by Bramson) (12:28)
2nd Period:
SGT (3-0) – Lucas (7) (PP) (assisted by Mel) (12:27)
KING (1-3) – Glattman (10) (assisted by Everett) (12:28)
3rd Period:
KING (2-3) – Sam Bodner (5) (assisted by Hilary) (3:50)
SGT (4-2) – Lucas (8) (EN) (unassisted) (12:49)

GAME NOTES:
You may be looking at the times of these goals and wondering how its possible that two goals were scored one second apart at the end of the 2nd period, particularly without a stopped clock. You may also be wondering how its possible that another goal was scored at the exact same time in the first period and how so many times end in 27 or 28. No doubt those among you with any kind of math background are furiously googling or citing Benford’s Law as we speak. And the truth is that I honestly have no idea although wine may need to be banned from the scorer’s box in future weeks. Also this was the lowest scoring game between these teams ever and Siwash was able to hold on late for a 4-2 win.

THREE STARS OF THE GAME:
3rd – Glattman (1G)
2nd – Doug (W, 2 GA)
1st – Lucas (3G)

Chocolate MilkMob (Sponsored by Oreos) vs Saving Private Ryan

1st Period:
CHOC (1-0) – Bedsy (1) (unassisted) (1:01)
CHOC (2-0) – Jo Robin (4) (assisted by Hicks) (6:11)
CHOC (3-0) – Jacob Berkowitz (2) (assisted by Bedsy) (9:57)
CHOC (4-0) – Hicks (4) (assisted by Becca) (13:48)
2nd Period:
PINK (1-4) – Simon (1) (assisted by Ryan) (1:09)
CHOC (5-1) – Spencer (1) (assisted by Dana) (9:32)
3rd Period:
CHOC (1-6) – Jo Robin (5) (assisted by Bedsy) (9:09)

GAME NOTES:
Pink was riding high after a surprising 7-5 win Friday night over Bruger King but the momentum did not seem to carry over to this one as brown notched a surprising blowout win with Tyler in goal in a semi-revenge game. Ryan did get a point, obviously, but needed 5-6 more in this one. 6-1 Mob.

THREE STARS OF THE GAME:
3rd – Tyler (W, 1 GA)
2nd – Bedsy (1G, 1A)
1st – Jo Robin (2G)

Revenge of the Pie Pie vs Sgt. Siwash

2nd Period:
SGT (1-0) – Joel (2) (PP) (assisted by Lucas) (0:59)
SGT (2-0) – Jesse (1) (assisted by Bramson) (4:25)
SGT (3-0) – Jesse (2) (assisted by Joel) (5:10)
SGT (4-0) – Jesse (3) (unassisted) (12:37)
SGT (5-0) – Hootie (7) (assisted by Bramson) (13:51)
3rd Period:
PIE (1-5) – Craig (8) (unassisted) (0:37)
SGT (6-1) – Jesse (4) (unassisted) (6:40)

GAME NOTES:
This was expected to be a close game and a potential playoff preview but thanks to some amazing work by Doug in net and a four goal explosion by Jesse for his first four goals of the season, it turned into a romp by camo. A somewhat surprising 6-1 blowout drops Pie Pie to 5th and elevates Siwash to the ranks of true contenders.

THREE STARS OF THE GAME:
3rd – Bramson (2A)
2nd – Doug (W, 1 GA)
1st – Jesse (4G)

Chocolate MilkMob (Sponsored by Oreos) vs Red Bunny

1st Period:
RED (1-0) – Nate (1) (PP) (assisted by JLP) (13:17)
2nd Period:
RED (2-0) – Tarnow (2) (assisted by Donny) (12:39)
3rd Period:
CHOC (1-2) – Bedsy (2) (assisted by Jo Robin) (6:06)

GAME NOTES:
A classic rivalry game with red taking on the revamped MilkMob. I always say you never know what’s going to happen in these rivalry games, standings be damned. And even though red had just one victory on the season, they went out drinking before the game and played maybe their best all-around game of the season against their longtime rivals. Goals by Nate and Tarnow and a vintage performance by Campbell gave red a much needed 2-1 win in the west coast game, keeping hope alive for a late season resurgence. Particularly with some very milky help potentially on the way for the playoff run. Stay tuned.

THREE STARS OF THE GAME:
3rd – Nate (1G)
2nd – Tarnow (GWG)
1st – Campbell (W, SO)

Sgt. Siwash vs Chocolate MilkMob (Sponsored by Oreos)

1st Period:
CHOC (1-0) – Cardello (1) (assisted by Hicks) (6:21)
2nd Period:
SGT (1-1) – Sean Kittredge (3) (assisted by Hootie) (6:59)
SGT (2-1) – Jacob Linder (2) (assisted by Mel) (13:41)
3rd Period:
CHOC (2-2) – Ryann (3) (assisted by Hicks) (2:15)
SGT (3-2) – Lucas (9) (unassisted) (5:17)
SGT (4-2) – Hootie (8) (assisted by Sarah) (7:08)
SGT (5-2) – Max (2) (assisted by Lucas) (9:12)
CHOC (3-5) – Becca (2) (unassisted) (13:09)
CHOC (4-5) – Hicks (5) (assisted by Yaakov) (13:49)

GAME NOTES:
A rare Sunday night matchup saw the league’s newest top goalie Jacob making a number of highlight reel saves but also passing the ball right to Lucas on the third goal. I wouldn’t have brought that up if he hadn’t asked me if it could be added to his assist tally multiple times after the game. Brown was able to score two goals in the final minute to give camo a real sweat but couldn’t get the tying goal. Well, they did get a tying goal earlier in the game when Siwash somehow left the two biggest cherrypickers in league history wide open for the world’s longest 2 on 0, but they thankfully tightened it up in the final 11 seconds. 5-4 camo as they move into 2nd place heading into the season’s final week.

THREE STARS OF THE GAME:
3rd – Hicks (1G, 2A)
2nd – Jacob Berkowitz (5 GA)
1st – Lucas (1G, 1A)
