Hungry Hippos (-120)
Green Street Hooligans (-120)
Over 5.5 (-120)
Under 5.5 (-120)
Notes: Barch is out for this one, replaced by Jeff Green who surprisingly does appear to have survived Burning Man. The Hippos are missing Nicole and Susie and are looking to pick up a free agent girl before gametime. The Hooligans looked great last night even without Probie and Charlotte, led by two goals and an assist from the legend Scott Metz. The Hippos looked great themselves, putting up four goals and cruising to a 4-1 victory over purple. This game is almost too close to call, but with two great goalies and a host of capable defenders suiting up for this one I would lean towards the under.
The Charging Cheetahs (-115)
Backdoor Bandits (-125)
Over 5.5 (-120)
Under 5.5 (-120)
Notes: Jeff Green is subbing for the red team as well. Hey, when you missed the last month of the D5 season + playoffs because you rented a van and drove it out to Burning Man, you’ve got a lot of hockey to catch up on. Red will also be utilizing the services of Mike T for Ariel and an unnamed defenseman to be named later in relief of Sully. The Bandits have all of their savages in tow for this one minus Ryan, who will be taking care of his newborn child and thus missing all the ass-slapping that is sure to occur in this one. Zisser vs Green is a riveting matchup in the nets, especially if you want to find out which D5 goalie can handle the most illicit substances in a single night, but the one to watch is Nasty Nate Trannel going up against Austin who placed the max bet on himself outscoring Braun and responded with two points in week 1. Austin is, however, a GTD for this one. If he plays, as I expect he will, blue should be a slight favorite. If he misses this one, take red for the win.
Goonies (-150)
Purple People Eaters (+110)
Over 5.5 (-130)
Under 5.5 (-110)
Notes: deLacy is injured; in his place, Zak Casca will get the call. Purple had an inauspicious debut last week, but they also played arguably one of the top teams in the league. Captain Jack has assured me that they were just letting the rest of the league pick up a head start before they reeled off 8 straight wins. I’m not so sure. Still, this is a team with a lot of talent up and down the lineup; they’ve clearly got the scoring, but their biggest concern will be whether the defense can keep pace. The Goonies picked up a season opening 6-5 shootout loss in one of the wildest games we’ve ever seen and should be sharper going into week two. Purple is probably better than they looked week 1, but so is white. McQuade is sure to bet a ton on this game, and I for one can’t wait to collect.
My Cup Size Is Stanley (+105)
Stud Puffins (-145)
Over 5.5 (-105)
Under 5.5 (-135)
Notes: In the final game of the evening the preseason favorite Stud Puffins will take on Cup Size, fresh off a surprising week 1 shootout win over the Goonies. Although Meg will be playing against them rather than in net, Jeff Green will be back from his month-long sabbatical at Burning Man and facing off against Sena, who is presumably also near death. Cup Size looked great last week, but the Puffins looked even better, and that was without aforementioned possibly dead Sena. Unless Gabe puts the black team on his back ala Greg Jennings, orange is the pick in this one.
