Weeks 6 & 7 Box Scores (Fall 2023)

96th Street Bastards vs Shooting Blancs

1st Period:
BLNC (1-0) – Kevin Aylesworth (3) (assisted by Scott Storer) (0:50)
BLNC (2-0) – Kevin Aylesworth (4) (assisted by Adam Satok) (4:23)
2nd Period:
BLNC (3-0) – Tom McGuire (8) (assisted by Josh Koza) (1:40)
BST (1-3) – Amanda Fazio (2) (assisted by Mike Sanchick) (5:23)
3rd Period:
BST (2-3) – Hicks (7) (unassisted) (0:15)
BLNC (4-2) – Adam Satok (8) (unassisted) (7:08)
BLNC (5-2) – Tom McGuire (9) (unassisted) (8:05)

GAME NOTES: No one knew quite what to expect from the Bastards in their first game post-trade but it didn’t matter – white jumped on them early and often, scoring their first one 50 seconds in and controlling play throughout. Hicks did rip one back-bar and Fazio had a decent goal I guess but overall, total white domination. Zisser left in his crease just mumbling lyrics from The Who: “meet the new boss, same as the old boss.

THREE STARS OF THE GAME:
3rd – Adam Satok (1G, 1A)
2nd – Kevin Aylesworth (2G)
1st – Tom McGuire (2G)

BLNC (2-1) – Scott Storer (7) (assisted by Adam Satok) (11:36)
2nd Period:
BLU (2-2) – Chad (4) (assisted by Sam) (0:22)
BLU (3-2) – Chad (5) (assisted by Corey) (1:26)
BLU (4-2) – Corey (6) (unassisted) (2:46)
BLU (5-2) – Chad (6) (assisted by Justin) (8:48)
BLU (6-2) – Brett (2) (assisted by Corey) (10:51)
BLNC (3-6) – Kevin Aylesworth (5) (unassisted) (12:26)

GAME NOTES: This was expected to be a tight matchup, especially with blue missing two of their top defensemen, but after Storer scored two in the first the Bluebies came out in the second period with five straight goals to pick up a surprisingly high scoring 6-3 decision. This contest also may have set a record for most Montreal players in a single D5 game.

THREE STARS OF THE GAME:
3rd – Scott Storer (2G)
2nd – Corey (1G, 2A)
1st – Chad (3G)

Jewish Golden Calfs vs Bada Bing

1st Period:
BING (1-0) – Annie (2) (assisted by Scott Metz) (3:01)
BING (2-0) – Joe The Milkman Fusco (2) (unassisted) (12:27)
2nd Period:
JGC (1-2) – Adam Herman (1) (assisted by DRo) (2:42)
JGC (2-2) – Minsky (7) (assisted by Yehuda) (5:49)
3rd Period:
JGC (3-2) – Tommy Covelli (4) (assisted by DRo) (8:28)
JGC (4-2) – Adam Herman (2) (assisted by Julie) (9:55)

GAME NOTES: After an electric 1st period by the Bing that saw Annie open the scoring and The Milkman pick up his first goal as a stripper, the Calfs took over and put up four straight for the comeback win. They remain undefeated with Max in net…this game also featured the play of Yehuda’s life with a sick falling assist. If only he did more of this and less stickhandling until you get stripped and then yelled at by your own bench.

THREE STARS OF THE GAME:
3rd – Yehuda (1A)
2nd – Max (W, 2 GA)
1st – Adam Herman (2G)

Bluebies vs Big Deke Energy

BDE (1-0) – Pelletier (3) (assisted by Ryan Levine) (1:09)
BLU (1-1) – Len (1) (assisted by Corey) (11:27)
2nd Period:
BDE (2-1) – Pete Guiffre (1) (assisted by Pelletier) (4:55)
BLU (2-2) – Corey (7) (assisted by Brett) (7:44)

BDE (3-3) – Pelletier (4) (assisted by Steph) (13:57)
3rd Period:
BLU (4-3) – Chad (8) (unassisted) (4:20)
BDE (4-4) – Ryan Levine (5) (assisted by Pelletier) (7:42)
Overtime:
BLU (5-4) – Sam (3) (unassisted) (1:46)

GAME NOTES: This was a tight, high scoring, back and forth affair that unfortunately had to be interrupted by what I can only describe as a completely freak March snow flurry when the forecast called for 0% chance of precipitation. I would like to say I was surprised but quite honestly this was one of the most D5 things that could have happened. When the game did restart, yellow tied it up to force OT but Sammy went coast to coast for the OT winner, ending the game and clinching top four seeding for the Bluebies.

THREE STARS OF THE GAME:
3rd – Chad (2G)
2nd – Sam (GWG)
1st – Pelletier (2G, 1A)

Jewish Golden Calfs vs Red Eyed Peas

1st Period:
RED (1-0) – Tarnow (2) (assisted by Nate) (7:49)
2nd Period:
RED (2-0) – Campbell (5) (assisted by Matt) (5:20)
3rd Period:
JGC (1-2) – Minsky (8) (unassisted) (2:12)
JGC (2-2) – Yehuda (2) (PP) (unassisted) (4:20)
RED (3-2) – Nate (2) (assisted by Cherie) (7:51)
RED (4-2) – Cole (8) (assisted by Jason Reape) (12:35)

GAME NOTES: This was a fairly even game but Nate broke a late 2-2 tie with a great snapshot/celly combo to give red the W and solidify their hold on 1st in the standings.

THREE STARS OF THE GAME:
3rd – Jacob Green (W, 2 GA)
2nd – Campbell (1G)
1st – Nate (GWG, 1A)

Bluebies vs On Tuesdays We Wear Pink

1st Period:
PNK (1-0) – Rockoff (4) (assisted by Pete) (12:05)
2nd Period:
BLU (1-1) – Chad (9) (PP) (assisted by Cherie) (1:13)
PNK (2-1) – Jo Robin (1) (assisted by Rockoff) (6:13)
PNK (3-1) – Ryann (4) (assisted by Rockoff) (13:51)
3rd Period:
PNK (4-1) – Rachel Lee (1) (EN) (assisted by Pete) (12:33)
PNK (5-1) – Jo Robin (1) (assisted by Ryann) (13:21)

GAME NOTES: A stacked pink lineup dominates a shorthanded blue team for most of the game. Riding multi-point efforts from Rockoff, Jo and Ryann, Team Tuesdays won each period and won the game by a commanding 5-1 score.

THREE STARS OF THE GAME:
3rd – Jeff Green (W, 1 GA)
2nd – Rockoff (1G, 2A)
1st – Jo Robin (2G)

Bluebies vs Jewish Golden Calfs

1st Period:
BLU (1-0) – Corey (1) (unassisted) (2:05)
BLU (2-0) – Chad (1) (assisted by Corey) (6:55)
2nd Period:
BLU (3-0) – Chad (1) (assisted by Sam) (8:38)
3rd Period:
BLU (4-0) – Sam (1) (unassisted) (3:04)
JGC (1-4) – Minsky (9) (assisted by Adam Herman) (6:21)

GAME NOTES: Much as they were dominated by pink in the previous game, blue turned the tables and dominated gold in this one with a 4-1 win that vaults them back up to top two in the standings.

THREE STARS OF THE GAME:
3rd – Corey (1G, 1A)
2nd – Sam (1G, 1A)
1st – Chad (2G)

Red Eyes Peas vs On Tuesdays We Wear Pink

1st Period:
PNK (1-0) – Ryann (5) (assisted by Tommy) (7:01)
2nd Period:
PNK (2-0) – Stern (4) (unassisted) (1:47)
PNK (3-0) – Rockoff (5) (assisted by Tommy) (3:05)
RED (1-3) – Rose (1) (assisted by Tarnow) (9:06)
RED (2-3) – Nate (3) (unassisted) (13:00)
PNK (4-2) – Jo Robin (3) (assisted by Ryann) (13:46)
3rd Period:
RED (3-4) – Campbell (6) (assisted by Tarnow) (3:15)
RED (4-4) – Campbell (7) (assisted by Rose) (5:05)
RED (5-4) – Jason Reape (1) (assisted by Cherie) (7:06)
RED (6-4) – Jason Reape (2) (assisted by Cole) (8:42)
PNK (5-6) – Pete Guiffre (2) (SH) (assisted by Jo Robin) (13:27)

GAME NOTES: Lots of star power in this matchup – Jo, Cherie, Tarnow, Stern. But it was Jason Reape off the top rope scoring two goals in less than two minutes late in the 3rd period to break a 4-4 tie and give red an improbable comeback victory in a game that they once trailed 3-0. Somehow the most excited player on their bench was Cardello who isn’t even on the team. I’m not sure if they’re lacking in spirit or if he’s just a sicko but either way, a highly impressive effort by a team on a roll going into the playoffs.

THREE STARS OF THE GAME:
3rd – Jo Robin (1G, 1A)
2nd – Campbell (2G)
1st – Jason Reape (2G)

Big Deke Energy vs Bada Bing

1st Period:
BDE (1-0) – Ryan Levine (6) (unassisted) (7:22)
2nd Period:
BDE (2-0) – Ryan Levine (7) (assisted by Pelletier) (11:56)
3rd Period:
BDE (3-0) – Pelletier (5) (assisted by Peter Guiffre) (1:15)
BDE (4-0) – Pelletier (6) (assisted by Jay Travers) (4:44)
BDE (5-0) – Pete Guiffre (3) (assisted by Steph) (6:32)
BING (1-5) – Dave Liang (5) (PP) (assisted by Alex Rickard) (11:40)

GAME NOTES: A shorthanded purple squad is no match for a red-hot yellow team as the Dekes win every period and convincingly take this one 5-1. I’d say more about this game but quite honestly all I was thinking about was how cold it was and how badly I needed to get to Dorrian’s. Oh and also Cardello lost a bunch of money livebetting next goal scorers. That was fun.

THREE STARS OF THE GAME:
3rd – Ridzik (W, 1 GA)
2nd – Ryan Levine (2G)
1st – Pelletier (2G, 1A)
