Week 4 Box Scores (Summer 2024)

Red Floyd vs UPS

2nd Period:

RED (1-0) – New Yehuda (4) (assisted by Goose) (3:22)
UPS (1-1) – Brita (3) (assisted by Chucky Perks) (4:57)
3rd Period:
UPS (2-1) – Jack (4) (assisted by Hicks) (7:05)
UPS (3-1) – Kev (1) (assisted by Chucky Perks) (9:45)
UPS (4-1) – Hicks (1) (assisted by Dave Zuck) (12:23)

GAME NOTES: This line was set to comfortably favor red but 1st round pick Wes and league leading scorer Carter bailing last minute (in addition to Campbell being out) were the final bricks in the wall for Floyd’s chances of keeping their win streak alive. They made a better go of it than I expected with a 1-0 lead (which they held for a minute and a half) and keeping the game tied until midway through the 3rd period when brown delivered three goals in five minutes en route to their first victory of the season…four games into their season, the two leading scorers on UPS are Jack (their 1st rounder) and Chucky Perks, aka Slim Charles, aka Chucky Percocet if you’re into that kind of thing. With six points in four games, he’s the early frontrunner for rookie of the year with red’s own new Yehuda right behind him.

THREE STARS OF THE GAME:
3rd – Brita (1G)
2nd – Hicks (1G, 1A)
1st – Jack (GWG, A)

My Cup Size Is Stanley vs Merry Pranksters

1st Period:
CUP (1-0) – Minsky (3) (assisted by Chris Fullam) (1:44)
2nd Period:
CUP (2-0) – Jo Robin (4) (unassisted) (7:04)
3rd Period:
CUP (3-0) – Chris Fullam (2) (assisted by Jo Robin) (5:11)
CUP (4-0) – Minsky (4) (unassisted) (7:49)
CUP (5-0) – Chris Fullam (3) (unassisted) (13:43)

GAME NOTES: Cup Size scored early and often in this one, burying one on the opening shift and then never looking back. Pranksters had some chances but all were turned away by Phelps in a rare sub appearance. 5-0 black as they continue to try to convince a skeptical public that they belong among the upper rather than middle class this season.

THREE STARS OF THE GAME:
3rd – Chris Fullam (2G)
2nd – Phelps (W, SO)
1st – Minsky (2G)

The Seahorses vs Layin’ Pipe

1st Period:
PIPE (1-0) – Andrew (1) (unassisted) (8:26)
2nd Period:
SEA (1-1) – Adam Herman (1) (unassisted) (5:48)
PIPE (2-1) – Alex Commette (2) (assisted by Will Burchell) (10:01)
3rd Period:
PIPE (3-1) – Tommy Covelli (1) (assisted by Grace Cartwheel) (1:00)
PIPE (4-1) – Andrew (2) (assisted by Alex Commette) (5:09)

GAME NOTES: Seahorses cover the pregame 3.5 goal line, but Pipe still get a relatively sweat-free win. Jeff Green is also apparently out until the championship for silver. Painful but also not surprising in the slightest. I guess it wasn’t just Burning Man; Jeff simply doesn’t play hockey in late August unless you count the ball hockey game they apparently hold at Burning Man where everyone’s on acid. Sounds electric honestly.

THREE STARS OF THE GAME:
3rd – Tommy Covelli (1G)
2nd – Alex Commette (1G, 1A)
1st – Andrew (2G)

SexyBack vs White Walkers

1st Period:
WWK (1-0) – Nolan (1) (assisted by Danny Swersky) (5:34)
2nd Period:
WWK (2-0) – Jeremy (1) (assisted by Pelletier) (4:38)
SEX (1-2) – Chad (2) (assisted by Alex) (10:53)
3rd Period:
SEX (2-2) – Chad (3) (assisted by Oskar) (7:32)
Overtime:
SEX (3-2) – Brooke (1) (assisted by Alex) (2:52)

GAME NOTES: No Sam or Ari caused this line to be set at a somewhat surprising white (-155) in their first game of the season. But a late appearance by Chad, albeit at less than 100%, and late scratch of Brad turned the tides just enough for blue to pull a comeback win in OT after being down 2-0 midway through the game. Brooke apparently saves her goals for OT the way Cardello saves his for empty nets and after missing one chance (and screaming FUCK so loud it’s all over the video feed), she would make no mistake on the ensuing play, bringing SexyBack and sending blue fans and teammates home happy.

THREE STARS OF THE GAME:
3rd – Phelps (W, 2 GA)
2nd – Chad (2G)
1st – Brooke (GWG)

White Walkers vs Seahorses

1st Period:
WWK (1-0) – Stern (1) (PP) (assisted by Jeremy) (3:35)
SEA (1-1) – Alan (1) (assisted by Scott Metz) (5:33)
WWK (2-1) – Stern (2) (assisted by Mike Milstein) (7:18)
SEA (2-2) – Adam Herman (3) (assisted by James Dziwura) (13:41)
2nd Period:
SEA (3-2) – Cliff (1) (assisted by Brendan) (6:52)
SEA (4-2) – Alan (2) (assisted by Tom Fitz) (13:37)
3rd Period:
SEA (5-2) – Adam Herman (4) (assisted by James Dziwura) (0:46)

GAME NOTES: Yellow brought their A game in this one, playing by far their most complete game of the season. White Walker captain (does that make him the Night King?) Stern twice staked white to leads in the 1st but it didn’t matter as the Seahorses responded with four unanswered goals (two of them by Herman) to pick up their first victory of the season.

THREE STARS OF THE GAME:
3rd – Mike Stern (2G)
2nd – Adam Herman (2G)
1st – Alan (2G)
