Weeks 5-6 Box Scores (Fall 2024)

Merry Pranksters vs My Cup Size Is Stanley

2nd Period:
PRK (1-0) – Sam Gelman (12) (unassisted) (0:29)
PRK (2-0) – Sam Gelman (13) (assisted by Maddie) (1:29)
PRK (3-0) – Sam Gelman (14) (unassisted) (8:31)
CUP (1-3) – Mikey (1) (assisted by Sean Kittridge) (11:53)
3rd Period:
PRK (4-1) – Yehuda (3) (assisted by Ari Fuchs) (7:20)
PRK (5-1) – KG (3) (unassisted) (10:25)

GAME NOTES: This game was a 0-0 slugfest until Gelman broke it open with a 2nd period natural hat trick, electrifying tie dye fans and giving his team a 3-0 lead which they would never relinquish. Yehuda & KG seal it late as the Pranksters prove they’re for real with a thorough 5-1 win over the also generally impressive Cup Size. Gelman now sits at 14 goals with an outside shot to tie or break the league record of 18, set by Neil in 2022 although to be fair 6 of them came in one game with AK in net. God that was brutal to watch.

THREE STARS OF THE GAME:
3rd – Mikey (1G)
2nd – KG (1G)
1st – Sam Gelman (3G)

Melrose Home vs My Cup Size Is Stanley

1st Period:
CUP (1-0) – Jake Chaplin (5) (assisted by Matt Leeb) (5:13)
2nd Period:
CUP (2-0) – Ken (2) (unassisted) (7:56)
MRH (1-2) – James Dziwura (5) (unassisted) (13:45)
3rd Period:
MRH (2-2) – Chucky Perks (2) (unassisted) (8:12)
CUP (3-2) – Sean Kittridge (2) (assisted by Chris Fullam) (11:39)

GAME NOTES: Cup Size had the better of play for most of the game but Geskin was excellent in relief of Zisser and Melrose made it close with a late 2nd period goal from James and one with under six minutes left from Chuck. Jenn’s boobs would have the last laugh though as Kittridge finished off a beautiful passing play for what would stand up as the eventual game winner. 3-2 Cup Size as the Melrose slide reaches four straight Ls (spoiler alert: it would hit five later).

THREE STARS OF THE GAME:
3rd – Chucky Perks (1G)
2nd – Jake Chaplin (1G)
1st – Sean Kittridge (GWG)

The MilkMob vs Sexperts

1st Period:
SEX (1-0) – Dave Liang (1) (assisted by Jenna) (1:00)
MILK (1-1) – Yehuda Silverman (2) (assisted by Caleb) (9:35)
2nd Period:
MILK (2-1) – Caleb (1) (assisted by Jay Travers) (8:15)
MILK (3-1) – Dana Lerner (1) (assisted by Joe Fusco) (10:39)
3rd Period:
MILK (4-1) – Yehuda Silverman (3) (assisted by Joe Fusco) (1:59)
SEX (2-4) – Len (1) (assisted by Joel) (4:18)
MILK (5-2) – Caleb (2) (assisted by Jordan Dickson) (1:59)

GAME NOTES: The MilkMob is on fire and simply could not be contained on this night as they put up 10 goals, including five in this comeback win. I have it on good authority that none of them got any work done at the office on Wednesday because they were all too busy watching this game on repeat. Bring on the cowbell.

THREE STARS OF THE GAME:
3rd – Dana Lerner (1G)
2nd – Yehuda Silverman (2G)
1st – Caleb (2G, 1A)

The MilkMob vs Melrose Home

2nd Period:
MILK (1-0) – Danny (1) (assisted by Jordan) (6:55)
MILK (2-0) – Caitlin (1) (unassisted) (13:35)
3rd Period:
MILK (3-0) – Yehuda Silverman (4) (unassisted) (7:00)
MILK (4-0) – Caleb (3) (unassisted) (8:24)
MRH (1-4) – James Dziwura (4) (assisted by Russo) (11:37)
,MILK (5-1) – The Milkman (3) (EN) (unassisted) (13:10)

GAME NOTES: Like I said, this was a banner evening for the MilkMob. Danny got the scoring started with his first career D5 goal and the hits came fast and furious for white. Milkman capped it off with a late empty netter as America’s Team continued their ascent up the standings with a 5-1 win over Melrose. I’m not entirely sure what the hell is going on in Milkland, but it’s special.

THREE STARS OF THE GAME:
3rd – Danny (1G)
2nd – Caitlin (GWG)
1st – APK (W, 1 GA)

Halloweenies vs Flickin’ Bean

1st Period:
BEAN (1-0) – Tom Fitz (2) (assisted by Cherie) (3:30)
HWN (1-1) – Joe Magosin (3) (assisted by Alan) (4:55)
2nd Period:
BEAN (2-1) – Ryan (2) (assisted by Tom Fitz) (4:47)
BEAN (3-1) – Tom Fitz (3) (assisted by Cherie) (8:56)
3rd Period:
HWN (2-3) – Scott Storer (3) (assisted by Joe Magosin) (12:10)
BEAN (4-2) – Cherie (1) (EN) (assisted by Ryan Levine) (12:45)
BEAN (5-2) – Tommy (1) (EN) (assisted by Mel) (13:52)

GAME NOTES: The front end of a home-and-home was much tighter than the score would indicate as orange got to within a goal with 1:50 left. But Bean would seal the game with two late empty netters to pick up their first win of the season and hand orange their third straight loss.

THREE STARS OF THE GAME:
3rd – Joe Magosin (1G, 1A)
2nd – Cherie (1G, 2A)
1st – Tom Fitz (2G, 1A)

Flickin’ Bean vs Halloweenies

1st Period:
HWN (1-0) – Ryann (1) (assisted by Scott Storer) (1:00)
BEAN (1-1) – David Nahon (1) (assisted by Ryan Levine) (12:28)
2nd Period:
HWN (2-1) – Zach Flynn (5) (unassisted) (8:15)
BEAN (2-2) – David Nahon (2) (assisted by Tommy) (5:39)
BEAN (3-2) – Ryan Levine (3) (unassisted) (7:26)
BEAN (4-2) – Ryan Levine (4) (unassisted) (13:38)

GAME NOTES: It was Dave Nahon night at D5 as everyone’s favorite Canadian dev (sorry Chad) buried two snipes in a rare appearance at forward. Ryan would add two more to seal it as pink swept the home-and-home with orange with a 4-2 victory in game 2.

THREE STARS OF THE GAME:
3rd – Ryann (1G)
2nd – Ryan Levine (2G, 1A)
1st – David Nahon (2G)

Merry Pranksters vs Red Sabbath

2nd Period:
PRK (1-0) – Yehuda (4) (assisted by Maddy) (6:55)
PRK (2-0) – Ari Fuchs (5) (unassisted) (13:38)
3rd Period:
RED (1-2) – Lucas (2) (unassisted) (1:03)
PRK (3-1) – Maddy (3) (assisted by Adam Satok) (1:49)
RED (2-3) – Campbell (2) (assisted by Lucas) (12:49)

GAME NOTES: The Pranksters continued their red-hot run with a fifth consecutive win, this one on Rosh Hashanah without the league’s leading scorer / their captain Sam Gelman. Red did well to keep it close but there was no way Gelman’s team was going to be denied on the Jewish New Year. Maddy had two points, including the eventual game winner, while ironmanning the entire game as KG observed/smoked on the bench. 3-2 Pranksters as they, incredibly, take possession of 1st place in the standings.

THREE STARS OF THE GAME:
3rd – Ari Fuchs (1G)
2nd – Lucas (1G, 1A)
1st – Maddy (GWG, A)

The Grassholes vs Flickin’ Bean

1st Period:
BEAN (1-0) – Tom Fitz (4) (assisted by Ryan Levine) (1:00)
BEAN (2-0) – Ryan Levine (5) (unassisted) (5:38)
BEAN (3-0) – Yehuda (1) (unassisted) (8:01)
2nd Period:
BEAN (4-0) – Ryan (6) (assisted by Cherie) (2:01)
GRH (1-4) – Steph (1) (assisted by Cliff) (3:44)
3rd Period:
BEAN (5-1) – Ryan Levine (7) (assisted by Pete) (5:44)

GAME NOTES: A heavyweight matchup on a Friday night as the 1st place team took on the defending champs. Sadly, green was missing several top players and pink was able to take advantage with what was still a very impressive 5-1 win over a very solid Grassholes squad. Steph continued her sub heater as, one week after scoring the shootout winner for red, she scored green’s only goal in this one. Also a lot of people ate jello. It was quite a game.

THREE STARS OF THE GAME:
3rd – Steph (1G)
2nd – Tom Fitz (1G)
1st – Ryan (3G, 1A)

Flickin’ Bean vs My Cup Size Is Stanley

1st Period:
CUP (1-0) – Manny (1) (assisted by Hill) (10:39)
2nd Period:
CUP (2-0) – Matt Leeb (1) (assisted by Matt Branson) (6:16)
BEAN (1-2) – Yehuda (2) (unassisted) (8:15)
BEAN (2-2) – Ryan Levine (8) (unassisted) (10:41)
3rd Period:
BEAN (3-2) – Ryan Levine (9) (unassisted) (5:18)
BEAN (4-2) – Ryan Levine (10) (assisted by Cherie) (6:13)

GAME NOTES: The battle for Yehuda’s heart saw Cup Size jump out to a 2-0 lead only for the boy himself to score on one of the most impressive shots of his life, an actual blast from the circle off the post through traffic. After that it was Ryan putting up his second hattie of the night, breaking more than a few black team hearts and leading Bean to their 4th straight win. In a just world the team with more Jewish players would’ve won (aka Cup Size), but as anyone who has read the history of pretty much any Jewish holiday know they pretty much always involve a lot of suffering followed by a ton of food. So here’s to hoping Jake, Jenn, Minsky and co enjoyed some gefilte fish. 4-2 Bean. Mazel.

THREE STARS OF THE GAME:
3rd – Yehuda (1G)
2nd – Cherie (1A)
1st – Ryan (3G)
