The MilkMob vs Pizza Rats
1st Period:
MILK (1-0) – Good Yehuda (1) (assisted by The Milkman) (3:08)
2nd Period:
MILK (2-0) – Good Yehuda (2) (assisted by Rob Meehan) (4:12)
3rd Period:
MILK (3-0) – Good Yehuda (3) (unassisted) (7:55)
MILK (4-0) – Dave Zuckerman (1) (EN) (unassisted) (10:34)
GAME NOTES:
A fairly surprising result in this one as The MilkMob not only win, but win by four goals in what must have been their best performance of the season. Silverman showed why he’s the good Yehuda with a hat trick and APK notched a shutout as the MilkMob pick up their first playoff win in franchise history with a 4-0 blanking of the Pizza Rats.
THREE STARS OF THE GAME:
3rd – The Milkman (1A)
2nd – APK (W, SO)
1st – Yehuda Silverman (3G)
Silver Stallions vs Crankin’ Hog
1st Period:
HOG (1-0) – Andrew Gillen (1) (assisted by Jake Friedman) (5:33)
HOG (2-0) – Ryan Levine (1) (assisted by Andrew Gillen) (7:21)
2nd Period:
HOG (3-0) – Ryan Levine (2) (assisted by Andrew Gillen) (0:10)
STA (1-3) – Mike Pigozzi (1) (PP) (assisted by Ken) (2:08)
3rd Period:
HOG (4-1) – Andrew Gillen (2) (assisted by Ryan Levine) (7:00)
STA (2-4) – Adam Herman (1) (assisted by Cherie) (8:07)
GAME NOTES:
The Stallions were able to keep this one close and had their chances late, but Corey stood tall in net and Hog shut it down in front to hold on to a 4-2 lead. Lots of complaining in this one (some of it warranted, most of it not) but I was busy with lights so thankfully missed most of it.
THREE STARS OF THE GAME:
3rd – Corey (W, 2 GA)
2nd – Ryan Levine (2G, 1A)
1st – Andrew Gillen (2G, 2A)
The MilkMob vs The Blue Streakers
2nd Period:
BLU (1-0) – Chad (1) (assisted by Jack) (0:32)
BLU (2-0) – Annie (2) (assisted by Jack Heitner) (4:38)
3rd Period:
BLU (3-0) – Chad (2) (unassisted) (0:16)
BLU (4-0) – Chad (3) (assisted by Alex) (1:30)
MILK (1-4) – Good Yehuda (4) (assisted by The Milkman) (13:22)
GAME NOTES:
The MilkMob came out running in this one and barely let up all game, but a Chad hat trick and an Annie one timer broke the game open for blue and Max stood tall in goal, only allowing a late tally with under 40 seconds left to spoil the shutout bid. Still, he’ll gladly take the win as the Streakers hold on for a 4-1 W and punch their ticket to a 4/5 showdown.
THREE STARS OF THE GAME:
3rd – Jack (1A)
2nd – Annie (GWG)
1st – Chad (3G)
Crankin’ Hog vs The Grassholes
1st Period:
HOG (1-0) – Tommy Covelli (1) (assisted by Sarah Hoffman) (2:18)
2nd Period:
HOG (2-0) – Andrew Gillen (3) (assisted by Ryan Levine) (3:16)
HOG (3-0) – Andrew Gillen (4) (assisted by Eli Best) (5:20)
HOG (4-0) – Scott Metz (1) (assisted by Sarah Hoffman) (6:58)
GAME NOTES:
A needlessly contentious game as Hog broke it open in a four minute stretch in the 2nd period where they scored three goals. After that, the third was basically fight night which we will never speak of again but regardless, a 4-0 shutout win sends Hog into a showdown with the 3rd seeded Mace Windu…besides the crazy amount of penalties, this game is notable for Gill scoring two goals, Sarah notching two assists (the second of which was really nice) and this being the final game of Stern’s D5 career. A surefire hall of famer if we had such a thing.
THREE STARS OF THE GAME:
3rd – Sarah Hoffman (2A)
2nd – Andrew Gillen (2G)
1st – Corey (W, SO)
The Blue Streakers vs My Cup Size Is Stanley
2nd Period:
BLU (1-0) – Jack (1) (assisted by Jeff Campbell) (2:46)
3rd Period:
CUP (1-1) – Sam Gelman (1) (assisted by Lucas) (11:09)
Overtime:
BLU (1-0) – Jack (2) (assisted by Chad) (0:55)
GAME NOTES:
An instant classic as blue fires close to 50 shots on Sonj in regulation with only a Jack blast off a faceoff eluding her. A back-and-forth 3rd period with chances on both sides. Gelman would tie the game late in regulation, but also take a penalty with time expiring to send blue to the PP where Jack would do it again, blasting a one timer from the slot to send blue to the final four for the 13th consecutive season dating back to Annie’s rookie year. Truly one for the ages but blue gets a measure of revenge for last year’s playoff elimination and gets a rematch with the top seeded Reds to open Championship Week.
THREE STARS OF THE GAME:
3rd – Sonj (2 GA)
2nd – Max (1 GA, W)
1st – Jack (2G)
Crankin’ Hog vs Mace Windu
1st Period:
MACE (1-0) – Ariel (1) (unassisted) (0:58)
HOG (1-1) – Pete (1) (PP) (unassisted) (6:46)
MACE (2-1) – Steve Rys (1) (SH) (unassisted) (8:40)
2nd Period:
HOG (2-2) – Pete (2) (assisted by Cardello) (1:23)
MACE (3-2) – Tom Fitz (1) (assisted by Kevin Aylesworth) (3:15)
MACE (4-2) – Tom Fitz (1) (assisted by Mel) (5:21)
HOG (3-4) – Yehuda (1) (assisted by Scott Metz) (10:04)
HOG (4-4) – Ryan Levine (3) (unassisted) (12:29)
3rd Period:
HOG (5-4) – Ryan Levine (4) (assisted by Cardello) (10:04)
GAME NOTES:
A crazy bank-and-forth affair as Mace held three separate leads but saw all three erased by Hog. With franchise GM Tommy exiting the game early due to injury, Cardello was called into action as an emergency sub and he responded with possibly the play of his life, stealing the ball from Mel (hilarious), running through two purple defenders and dishing a backhand feed to Ryan for the game winner. A gutsy win by maroon as they’ll move on to face former teammate James Dziwura and Team Pie Pie in the final four next week.
THREE STARS OF THE GAME:
3rd – Pete (2G)
2nd – Cardello (2A)
1st – Ryan Levine (2G)
