Fertilizin’ Eggs vs My Cup Size Is Stanley
1st Period:
EGG (1-0) – Pete (3) (assisted by Ryan) (13:45)
2nd Period:
CUP (1-1) – Hogg (5) (assisted by Jeff Feldman) (4:31)
EGG (2-1) – Tommy (5) (assisted by Ryan) (5:50)
CUP (2-2) – Matt Bramson (7) (assisted by James LaPorte) (10:13)
3rd Period:
EGG (3-2) – Ryan (12) (assisted by Pete) (13:27)
GAME NOTES:
Tommy & Pete delayed their trip to Montreal by a day to make this game and boy did it pay off as they combined for two goals and an assist while Ryan came through for three points, none bigger than his game winner with just 32.5 seconds left in the game. The Egg front office comes through with all the team’s points in this game as yellow holds on for a hard fought 3-2 win that keeps them in firm control of 1st place in the standings. Ryan also climbs to within a point of Jacob in the scoring race which is going to come down to a battle in the final week of the season between a guy whose name sounds Jewish but he somehow isn’t and a guy whose name sounds Jewish and he is for sure is.
THREE STARS OF THE GAME:
3rd – Sophia (W, 1 GA)
2nd – Pete (1G, 1A)
1st – Ryan (GWG, 2A)

MILK (2-0) – The Milkman (8) (assisted by Jordan) (5:40)
2nd Period:
MILK (3-0) – Nick (5) (assisted by KG) (3:20)
MILK (4-0) – Kyle Winkler (2) (assisted by Nick) (8:58)
3rd Period:
MEAN (1-4) – Tash (1) (assisted by Chucky Perks) (0:30)
MILK (5-1) – Alex Merone (3) (assisted by Nick) (4:51)
MEAN (2-5) – Joel (1) (unassisted) (5:58)
MILK (6-2) – Nick (6) (unassisted) (9:27)
MEAN (3-6) – Sam Schulman (2) (unassisted) (13:27)
GAME NOTES:
Tash makes her return to D5 in a sub appearance for pink and after the way things went I’m not sure if we’ll ever see her again. MilkMob comes out hot with the first four goals of the game, then fends off a three goal 3rd period by Mean Girls to cover the spread and win 6-3 on the strength of a five point game by Nick. Sophia plays well in a losing effort but must be left wondering why D5 isn’t a dynasty league and she can’t play behind Danilo and Simon every season.
THREE STARS OF THE GAME:
3rd – Tash (1G)
2nd – The Milkman (1G)
1st – Nick (3G, 2A)
Purple Nurple vs My Cup Size Is Stanley

PRP (1-0) – Mike Pigozzi (3) (assisted by Mitch) (6:54)
PRP (2-0) – Caleb (6) (SH) (assisted by Jo Robin) (8:31)
PRP (3-0) – Mike Pigozzi (4) (assisted by Dana Lerner) (11:27)
2nd Period:
CUP (1-3) – Jeff Feldman (2) (unassisted) (8:39)
3rd Period:
PRP (4-1) – Karly (3) (EN) (assisted by Caleb) (13:04)
GAME NOTES:
Although Cup Size was favored in this game, the book took max bets on Purple Nurple ML from Pete and Ryan right before puck drop, making me extremely curious what these sharp bettors knew. Well, whatever information they got from an inside source or just from playing Jenn’s team an hour earlier and not being particularly impressed, it paid off big time as this result was really never in doubt. Purple jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the 1st period and Cup Size’s only goal of the night came when Caleb shot the ball into his own net, possibly because he was getting bored. Penalties galore but it’s a 4-1 win for purple who pull even with black and red for 5th place in the standings (at least until Friday night).
THREE STARS OF THE GAME:
3rd – Caleb (GWG)
2nd – Simon (W, 1 GA)
1st – Mike Pigozzi (2G)
Silver Stallions vs The MilkMob
1st Period:
MILK (1-0) – Jordan (3) (assisted by Hicks) (3:25)
STA (1-1) – Sheila (1) (assisted by Jacob Berkowitz) (6:10)
MILK (2-1) – Nick (7) (assisted by Alex Merone) (9:00)
2nd Period:
STA (2-2) – Jacob Berkowitz (12) (SH) (unassisted) (3:58)
MILK (3-2) – The Milkman (9) (assisted by Hicks) (5:07)
STA (3-3) – Mike Sanchick (2) (PP) (assisted by Sheila) (13:13)
3rd Period:
MILK (4-3) – Nick (8) (SH) (assisted by Kyle) (0:31)
MILK (5-3) – Hicks (8) (assisted by Jordan) (3:38)
STA (4-5) – Jacob Berkowitz (13) (assisted by Milstein) (6:06)
GAME NOTES:
A valiant effort from a patchwork lineup for the Stallions as they achieve their best result of the season, only losing by one goal to one of the league’s premier teams. But unfortunately, when it comes to the standings, the losses all count the same (unless they’re in OT, but that’s another story). MilkMob receives timely scoring from their big guns and despite heroic performances by several silver players, especially Simon in net, the Mob escape with a 5-4 win that vaults them all the way up to 2nd place in the standings on the strength of a three game winning streak and five of their last six. Bring out the cowbells.
THREE STARS OF THE GAME:
3rd – Simon (5 GA)
2nd – Nick (2G)
1st – Hicks (1G, 2A)
Slime Time Live vs Sex Education
1st Period:
SEX (1-0) – Mike Cremers (2) (assisted by Mikey) (8:52)
2nd Period:
SEX (2-0) – Chad (6) (unassisted) (0:32)
STL (1-2) – Rob Meehan (2) (assisted by Alex Rockoff) (6:09)
STL (2-2) – James P (4) (assisted by Adam Klein) (8:32)
SEX (3-2) – Mikey (4) (assisted by Mike Milstein) (12:40)
3rd Period:
STL (3-3) – Jake Kolenberg (1) (PP) (assisted by Alex Horton) (2:15)
SEX (4-3) – Chad (7) (assisted by Kate) (9:52)
GAME NOTES:
An extremely tight game as Slime Time rallied on two separate occasions to tie the game at 2 and 3. But a Chad goal coming out of a timeout off a slick feed from Kate with 4:08 left in regulation was enough for Sex Ed to hang on despite the smallest bench of the season (as the old saying goes: it’s not the size that counts). 4-3 Sex Education with blue notching their 3rd consecutive win coming out of the tournament/rain break and, despite being 4th in the standings, currently holding the highest points per game in the league.
THREE STARS OF THE GAME:
3rd – James P (1G)
2nd – Mikey (1G, 1A)
1st – Chad (2G)

Shootout Winner By Dave Zuck
GAME NOTES:
The final game of a long evening of course had to go to a shootout after both goalies nearly collapsed on the rink. And that shootout had no choice but to go to sudden death. With Max and Zisser both struggling to even get in and out of the net between shooters, Dave Zuck mercifully ends it in round 5 by going backhand shelf and sending the Ducks home with a 3-2 win in a game they trailed 2-0, but also a game which green had to play large stretches of with an empty net. One for the ages and also our Instagram goal of the week.
THREE STARS OF THE GAME:
3rd – Dave Zuck (Shootout Winner)
2nd – Adam Herman (2G)
1st – James P (3G)

My Cup Size Is Stanley vs Mean Girls
2nd Period:
MEAN (1-0) – Joel (2) (assisted by Jacob Berkowitz) (3:55)
CUP (1-1) – Hogg P (6) (assisted by Jenna) (9:02)
3rd Period:
CUP (2-1) – Matt Bramson (8) (assisted by James LaPorte) (6:08)
CUP (3-1) – Hogg (7) (EN) (assisted by Matt Bramson) 13:23)
CUP (4-1) – Jeff Feldman (3) (EN) (assisted by Austin Marshalek) (13:52)
GAME NOTES:
I’m not entirely sure why Yehuda accepted this extremely optional timeslot but with just five regulars from the team he was given a host of league subs and his team came fairly close to pulling the upset, leading early and being tied midway through the 3rd period. But Cup Size would take over late with a Bramson goal and two empty netters to seal it. 4-1 black as they cover the 2 goal spread and break their two game losing streak.
THREE STARS OF THE GAME:
3rd – Carl (W, 1 GA)
2nd – Matt Bramson (GWG, 1A)
1st – Hogg (2G)
My Cup Size Is Stanley vs Reds N’ Roses
1st Period:
CUP (1-0) – Jacob Berkowitz (1) (assisted by Matt Bramson) (2:56)
RED (1-1) – Doug (5) (assisted by Kevin Tuohy) (6:23)
CUP (2-1) – Matt Bramson (9) (assisted by Hogg) (12:08)
2nd Period:
CUP (3-1) – James LaPorte (2) (assisted by Alex Merkin) (10:08)
RED (2-3) – Campbell (4) (assisted by Nate) (11:23)
3rd Period:
RED (3-3) – Kevin Tuohy (6) (assisted by Doug) (6:49)
RED (4-3) – Doug (6) (assisted by Nate) (10:17)
RED (5-3) – Campbell (5) (EN) (unassisted) (12:50)
CUP (4-5) – Matt Bramson (10) (assisted by James LaPorte) (13:57)
GAME NOTES:
Red, without Craig and Tarnow and allowing Jenn to use league leading scorer Jacob Berkowitz as a sub, notches an impressive comeback, scoring four straight goals after being down 3-1 to take a 5-3 lead on the strength of a Doug bank-in and a gritty empty netter from Campbell. A late Bramson goal made the scoreline look better and padded the stats as Cardello, who once called him a “stat whore,” watched from Italy. But the final result was a gutsy 5-4 win from red that gives them the upper hand on black in the standings as they jockey for playoff positioning heading into the season’s final week.
THREE STARS OF THE GAME:
3rd – Matt Bramson (2G)
2nd – Campbell (2G)
1st – Doug (GWG, A)
