Shua buries two goals in his first D5 game to show why so many people were outraged that Jake got him as a 2nd saying that they would have taken him in the 1st. To be fair, the red goalie was a guy from Sweden who hadn’t played in a decade but regardless it was an impressive debut for the odds on favorite for Fall ROY as green opens their season with a 6-2 win. Red will look to right the ship when they actually get Campbell in net.

GAME NOTES:
This game took a wild turn in the 2nd period as the Pranksters received one of the only goaltender ejections in league history after Jeff took exception to some poking at his glove and responded with said glove and blocker to the face. Cannot condone this behavior. Pranksters only gave up one goal on the ensuing five minute PP but purple would add two more late in the 2nd and hold on for a 3-0 shutout win.

GAME NOTES:
What a wild game this was. Fairly even throughout but possibly with camo getting the slight advantage in play, they still somehow found themselves down 3-0 with just three minutes left in the 3rd. And after pulling Doug they went on an absolute tear, scoring three goals in less than two minutes led by Lucas who was somehow uncovered in the slot for two of them (suppose this may partially be on me). Much to the chagrin of the participants of the already running late 8:30 game, this one went to OT where a shot from the point deflected off Brooke’s leg to give blue the win, albeit in much tougher fashion than was possibly necessary.

GAME NOTES:
Another surprisingly tight game from yellow who has yet to notch a win but is quickly establishing themselves as one of the top defensive teams in the league. Unfortunately, goal scoring is fairly important in hockey as well and that has been a bit of a struggle to start the season. A late goal from Scott Metz got them within one but the Pranksters were able to hang on for a 3-2 win that keeps them in the top two in the standings which as longtime league members know is crucial playoff positioning (direct bye to the final four).

GAME NOTES:
I don’t really think it makes a difference when one of the lights at the rink is out in terms of playability but it must be said that all five goals in this game were scored on the end of the rink with one light missing. I’d like to do a long-term cross-longitudinal study of goalies and their goals allowed in games/periods played with one light out for posterity. Regardless, a predictably low scoring game that featured a 5.0 over/under and ended hitting exactly that as a late goal from Chad gave Sexcellence the lead with 5:21 left and they were able to withstand a late flurry to seal their 3rd win of the night (also completed a game vs purple from week 2). 3-2 Sexcellence as they move into 1st place in the standings, albeit with more games played than most.
