Pinky Promise (+135)
Revenge of the Pie Pie (-200)
Over 6.0 Goals (-120)
Under 6.0 Goals (-120)
Notes: After a season opening victory, pink has dropped three straight games and fallen all the way down to 9th place in the standings, making tonight’s doubleheader kind of a must-win for them if they want any chance of finishing in the top half of the standings. No idea if Pete is planning on rollerblading his way back into New York from Germany for this one but don’t think he’s made a game so far and pretty sure Yehuda would beat him up if he had the capability to beat anyone up. Orange, meanwhile, is a sneaky-good 2-1 with their only loss in OT in a game against the Pranksters that they led with under a minute left. I have no idea how many beers they’ll be drinking before, after or during this game but in that sense 6:00 is a good game time for this team because the only real drinking they can do before is if they hit up Phebes or Ulysses. With intern season officially over as the calendar turns to October, it’s safe to say they’ll be (relatively) sober for this one. Pie Pie to win 3-1.
Pinky Promise (-145)
The Golden Gods (EVEN)
Over 5.0 Goals (-120)
Under 5.0 Goals (-120)
Notes: This game will feature two of the lowest scoring teams not just this season but in recent history. If defensive slugfests are your thing, boy do I have a treat for you. Pink has scored one or two goals in every game so far this season while yellow has lost every game by one goal. And tonight yellow with have to do without Mason, Bobby, Eli, Jordan, Metz and Ryan who is still rollerblading with Pete out in Europe. I think he’s back this weekend much to Campbell’s chagrin but yellow needs to start stacking wins fast to avoid a play-in matchup, possibly with this very same pink team. Expecting ultra-low scoring, a lot of yelling from pink’s side as usual (Scott will be informed that excessive yelling/complaining might merit an unsportsmanlike conduct due to complaints by literally every pink opponent for the past calendar year) and probably more than a few highlight reel saves by Tyler. Under is probably the play even at 5.
The Big Green (EVEN)
Revenge of the Pie Pie (-145)
Over 6.5 Goals (-120)
Under 6.5 Goals (-120)
Notes: Green was the trendy preseason pick for championship contender with two potential first round talents (Shua + Emma) plus a deep roster of D5 favorites. Orange was only picked to go that high by Carl who has them as the final leg in a huge preseason parlay and needs Pie Pie to finish top two in the regular season. Not many people had a ton of faith in the Jefferies crew but they’ve been solid so far and as long as they don’t booze too heavily between games, I think they have to be favored in this one. They may not look as strong on paper but I think their speed and toughness presents a nightmare matchup for green and if either Ariel or Amit is out for this one, green is legitimately in major trouble. They have the firepower to put up a ton of goals on a somewhat suspect defense, but I don’t think it’ll quite be enough. Orange to win.
Cookie Monsters (-120)
Sexcellence (-120)
Over 6.0 Goals (EVEN)
Under 6.0 Goals (-145)
Notes: Blue won the first matchup between these teams in a shootout but tonight will be missing multiple players as Mikey, Shane and Zisser are all out for this game. Not sure what purple’s lineup looks like but really as long as they have Carl the line doesn’t move much. It’s a deep team with a lot of solid, speedy players and Carl holds it down on the backend with sexy swedish goaltending. At full strength Sexcellence is likely favored in the -230 range but all the absences make this one significantly tougher to call. Under seems a good bet but it’s heavily juiced, and for good reason. Probably best not to bet this one unless you want to take the under or an alt line of Carl over 25 saves, although I don’t know how we would ever track it.
The Big Green (-120)
The Dolly Pranksters (-120)
Over 6.0 Goals (-120)
Under 6.0 Goals (-120)
Notes: The final game of the night. Two teams with championship aspirations and in some ways two of our oldest franchises. I don’t know if either team is missing players but the matchup is even in most ways except for public perception; green was ranked among the top teams in the preseason power ranks while the Pranksters were ranked near the bottom for the 3rd straight season despite finishing near the top of the standings in both Spring and Summer. I like what they’ve got going on in games where Jeff Green isn’t tossed but this will be a stiff test for them in what is incredibly their 8th game of the season (blue and purple are on the same accelerated schedule of not having their games rained out and having a light 2nd half). I like what green’s got going on but I’m going to assume that at least one of either Ariel or Amit are out since they’re two of the shakiest attendance guys in the league, one because he’s riding horses in Jersey, the other because he saves their lives for a living. Give me tie dye to keep up their winning ways and stake their claim to a top two slot. See ya tonight.
