1st Period:
PUF (1-0) – Sean Fleming (1) (unassisted) (4:23)
PUF (2-0) – Zach Fein (2) (unassisted) (5:27)
PUF (2-0) – Sean Fleming (2) (assisted by Ramy) (12:50)
3rd Period:
BAY (1-3) – Gabe (1) (unassisted) (7:29)
PUF (4-1) – Zach Fein (3) (assisted by Justin) (12:29)
GAME NOTES: The first game of the evening featured the 0-2 Tigers looking for their first victory of the season against the 1-2 Puffins, fresh off their first of the season against the Monsters…the first period was fairly even in terms of possession and shots on goal, as the season debut of Gabe “The Babe” gave the blue team a lift, but two first period goals by Fleming sandwiched around one from ChooChoo gave orange a commanding 3-0 lead heading into the break. Sometimes life isn’t fair…the Tigers had a ton of chances in the 2nd and 3rd but as you might expect, it was a pretty classic Tim K game throughout. Some people say it’s folly to use a 1st round pick on a goalie. Those people probably didn’t see this game…Gabe finally got the blue team on the board late in the 3rd with a well-placed slapper, but that was the only goal they would get on this day. ChooChoo buried his second of the game with just over 30 seconds left in the contest to put it out of reach and send the Puffins to a .500 record…unfortunately the camera guy bailed last minute so video footage of this evening’s games is spotty. Becca filmed much of the 2nd and 3rd periods on my phone but spent much of it heckling the players and at one point, there’s a 30 second shot of Jenn’s breast. Very bizarre editorial decisions…with the victory, the Puffins move to 2-2 and currently are in 3rd place in the standings, although all the teams behind them have a game in hand. The Tigers are now 0-3 and badly need to get their roster healthy (Sena and Charlotte, save us!) if they’re going to have a shot at a late season run up the standings.
THREE STARS OF THE GAME:

The Charging Cheetahs vs Green Street Hooligans
1st Period:
GSH (1-0) – Joe P (1) (assisted by Andrea) (3:25)
CHA (1-1) – Matt Riegler (2) (assisted by Derek) (12:13)
3rd Period:
GSH (2-1) – Jake Chaplin (1) (PS) (3:31)
GSH (3-1) – Joe P (2) (unassisted) (7:17)
GAME NOTES: The second game of the evening say the top seeded Hooligans, with Jake Chaplin subbing in for Probie, facing the 3rd place Cheetahs…Joe P, playing with Jason of the LBS on perhaps the oldest line in D5 history (over 90 years of hockey experience!), scored two goals in this one. The first was on a great pass from Andrea while the second was on a 2 on 1 late in the 3rd period…in between was the first penalty shot in league history as Riegler was called for the elusive covering the ball in the crease penalty. After a pretty hilarious center-ice scene in which Becca lobbied harder than I’ve ever seen anyone lobby to take the shot, Jake K made the tough but clearly correct decision to have Jake Chaplin take it, which he buried. After the game Becca remained ademant that she too would have scored…Riegler also scored the Cheetahs’ only goal of the game…Jeff “Wild Card” Green is a grown ass man. Got in a moped accident two weeks ago and only gave up one goal in a game where he told me he could barely even get down in the butterfly…with the win the Hooligans continue the Probie redemption tour after he sold his soul to the devil for a year one championship then spent two seasons hating his life on Tuesdays. The Cheetahs will look to rebound as they travel to the city of Cleveland to face the Monsters in the opening game of week 5.
THREE STARS OF THE GAME:

My Cup Size Is Stanley vs Goonies
2nd Period:
GOO (1-0) – Cherie (2) (assisted by Mike Yetter) (1:52)
GOO (2-0) – Shirtless Rob Meehan (1) (assisted by Cherie) (9:50)
GOO (3-0) – Michelle (1) (assisted by Jason B) (11:09)
3rd Period:
GOO (4-0) – Shirtless Rob Meehan (2) (assisted by Michelle) (1:01)
CUP (1-4) – Dave Holland (1) (unassisted) (3:53)
GOO (5-1) – Mike Yetter (1) (unassisted) (5:55)
CUP (2-5) – Mike Tarnow (3) (assisted by Scott Metz) (7:25)
GOO (6-2) – Caitlin Buckley (1) (EN) (assisted by Matt K) (12:48)
GAME NOTES: In a rematch of last season’s tightly contested final four matchup, the Goonies brought their A-game and thoroughly dominated a Cup Size squad that just the previous week had dominated the previously favored Cleveland Monsters…Cherie and Yetter had their mojo going all day, with each notching a goal and an assist. Shirtless Rob Meehan had two for himself and just missed getting a hatty late in the game. But the real MVP was Michelle notching her first career D5 goal that would eventually become the game winner on a 2 on 1 pass from Jason and adding an assist on Meehan’s 2nd later in the contest…Max made a number of incredible saves that would be sure to get him laid if he didn’t already have a girlfriend. I don’t know if I’ve ever give a star to a goalie who gave up two goals over multiple players who scored two points, but he definitely earned it…Caitlin Buckley picked up her first career D5 goal as she iced the game with a late empty netter after some sweet stickhandling…Tarnow scored for Cup Size and is now the league’s leading scorer. Multiple bets from the black team before the season picked him for the league’s Art Ross Trophy at 8 to 1 odds…with the victory the Goonies climb to 4th with a game in hand over the 3rd place Puffins. They’ll look to continue their ascent in a tough matchup against the 1st place Hooligans, while Cup Size will look to rebound against the currently winless Bayside Tigers.
THREE STARS OF THE GAME:
3rd – Max Moskowitz (2 GA)
2nd – Shirtless Rob Meehan (2G)
