PUF (7-2) – Fleming (3) (EN) (unassisted) (11:30)
CUP (3-7) – Matt Reape (1) (assisted by Tarnow) (12:32)

GAME NOTES:  The first game of the evening saw the Puffins taking on Cup Size in a battle of two teams in the bottom four desperately trying to get a run going towards a playoff bye…from the start, this was a Puffins romp as even noted beta male (but also tent enthusiast) Ramy came through with the first two goals for orange en route to an eventual hat trick. Unfortunately for him, however, the cameraman lost the memory card so there is no footage of his greatest ball hockey game maybe ever. Without the footage, can we be sure it really happened?…Sweet Baby James had numerous chances to score but was robbed on one and hit the crossbar on another, a play which his team challenged but the call stood on video review. He was still able to get a goal and an assist to pull ahead of Tadpole in the scoring race…Matt Reape picked up his first career D5 goal for Cup Size after they pulled the unorthodox move of calling a timeout down four goals with two minutes left. It led to one goal for each team, begging the question as to whether Jenn bet on the over in this one…with the win, the Puffins temporarily moves into 4th place while Cup Size remains in 7th.

THREE STARS OF THE GAME:
3rd – Meg (1G, 1A)
2nd – Sean Fleming (1G, 1A)
1st – Ramy (Hat Trick)

RONKONKOMA CONDO’S vs The Charging Cheetahs

2nd Period:
CHA (1-1) – Annie (1) (assisted by Austin) (2:14)
CHA (2-1) – Derek (2) (assisted by Jake Braun) (6:22)
3rd Period:

RON (3-3) – Cheeky (5) (assisted by Hicks) (7:54)
Overtime:
RON (4-3) – Hicks (7) (assisted by Olivier) (3:38)

GAME NOTES:  The CONDO’S and Cheetahs played one of the most exciting games of the week, a back-and-forth affair that ended with Hicks putting the game away in OT…Annie scored her first career goal in this one, while Cheeky tied the ladies’ record with four points in a game…as of this game Braun and Hicks are tied for the league lead in goals with 7. Hicks would end up winning the title while Braun would have to settle for rookie of the year, the third straight such award for the 77th street white trash pool house.

THREE STARS OF THE GAME:
3rd – Derek (1G, 1A)
2nd – Cheeky (2G, 1A)
1st – Hicks (2G, 1A)

My Cup Size Is Stanley vs The Charging Cheetahs

1st Period:
CUP (1-0) – Will Green (1) (unassisted) (9:00)
2nd Period:
CHA (1-1) – Sully (1) (assisted by Riegler) (10:40)
CUP (2-1) – Matt Reape (2) (unassisted) (12:56)
3rd Period:
CUP (3-1) – Ariel (2) (unassisted) (8:08)
CUP (4-1) – Ariel (3) (EN) (unassisted) (12:50)

GAME NOTES:  Cup Size came into this game in desperate need of a victory and pulled the upset in a surprisingly chippy contest…Will Green scored his first D5 goal in almost a year…Sully responded with his first of the season but Cup Size took the game between a late goal in the 2nd as time expired from Matt Reape and then two from Ariel in the third to put the game away. The two late goals put Ariel neck-and-neck with Sully for the defenseman’s points lead…Jeff Green subbed for Cup Size in relief of deLacy and was absolutely spectacular, earning the shit out of his #1 star of the game…late in the game former teammates/champions with the Summer ’18 Varsity Warriors, Tarnow & Derek, got matching minors with Tarnow receiving an extra game misconduct to give him the inside track on this season’s Brosen Goon Award. They made up after the game…with the loss the Cheetahs slip to 5th place in the standings while Cup Size climbs up to 7th with the victory.

THREE STARS OF THE GAME:
3rd – Matt Reape (GWG)
2nd – Ariel (2G)
1st – Jeff Green (1 GA)

Green Street Hooligans vs The Bayside Tigers

2nd Period:
GSH (1-0) – Guido (2) (assisted by Ines) (6:48)

GAME NOTES:  One of the great goaltending performances in league history as Jeff Green, who had just submitted a great performance for black in the previous game, outdid himself in picking up a borderline incredible shutout. The saddest part of the cameraman losing the memory card with the week 7 games is that we don’t have footage of Jeff’s many incredible saves…this game was tightly contested throughout with green using their speed game to frustrate and stifle blue’s creativity and passing. The only goal that went in was a two on one with Guido and Ines midway through the 2nd…the victory maintained the Hooligans’ undefeated record while dropping the Tigers down to the last spot in the standings.

THREE STARS OF THE GAME:
3rd – Eitan (1 GA)
2nd – Guido (GWG)
1st – Jeff Green (W, SO)

GOO (5-2) – Sara (1) (assisted by Brett) (7:55)
GOO (6-2) – Cherie (2) (assisted by Shirtless Rob Meehan) (8:24)
GOO (7-2) – Shirtless Rob Meehan (4) (assisted by Yetter) (12:17)

GAME NOTES:  The final game of the evening saw the Goonies lay a beating down on the city of Cleveland…Sara Lehman was subbing for Caitlin Buckley, out for the season with a torn ACL, and scoring her first career D5 goal…also notable were three point games from Meehan and Yetter, two points for Michelle and of course SBJ setting a new league record for gambling losses in a single evening. Keep em coming James!…the victory solidified the Goonies’ hold on a top three spot and ratcheted up the pressure on the CONDO’S. With just two weeks left, it’s a two horse race for the #2 seed, with the Hooligans all but locking up the #1 already.

THREE STARS OF THE GAME:
3rd – Michelle (1G, 1A)
2nd – Yetter (3A)
1st – Shirtless Rob Meehan (2G, 1A)

RON (2-0) – Mike McCauley (2) (SH) (assisted by Cheeky) (5:26)
2nd Period:
RON (3-0) – Cheeky (6) (assisted by Mike McCauley) (2:30)
CUP (1-3) – Cro (1) (assisted by Sara Klein) (6:32)
RON (4-1) – Mike McCauley (3) (unassisted) (8:58)

RON (6-1) – Denis (2) (assisted by Hicks) (11:46)
3rd Period:

RON (7-2) – Cheeky (7) (assisted by Olivier) (7:57)
CUP (3-7) – Nicole H (1) (assisted by Cro) (12:40)

GAME NOTES:  This game was notable for a few reasons: Cro scoring his first D5 goal, Mike McCauley basically winning the Brian Leetch Award in this game alone, and Jenn laying out Hicks with a textbook hip-check at center…from the start this was a CONDO’S romp as Mike and Cheeky combined for a number of highlight reel goals, with Casca holding the fort for the Long Island homeowners…Hicks and Cheeky extended their commanding leads in the overall scoring and ladies’ scoring races, with Cheeky moving up to #2 in the overall scoring race as well…McCauley’s hat trick was the first by a defenseman since Gabe put one up in the Fall ’18 playoffs.

THREE STARS OF THE GAME:
3rd – Nicole H (1G, 1A)
2nd – Cheeky (2G, 2A)
1st – Mike McCauley (Hat Trick, Assist)

Cleveland Monsters vs RONKONKOMA CONDO’S

1st Period:
CLE (1-0) – Hogg (4) (unassisted) (2:30)
RON (1-2) – Mike McCauley (4) (unassisted) (4:20)
CLE (2-1) – Hogg (5) (unassisted) (5:26)
CLE (3-1) – Nate (1) (unassisted) (7:13)

RON (2-4) – Hicks (8) (assisted by Mike McCauley) (10:42)
3rd Period:
CLE (5-2) – Hogg (7) (assisted by Brad) (7:50)

GAME NOTES:  This game was a continuation of the week four contest that got the third period rained out…with the Monsters leading 4-2 going into the third, they did what they had to do in playing tight defense, with Hogg adding an insurance goal late to give them a much-needed 5-2 victory…Hogg tied the league record for goals in a game with four goals in this one. Although it took place over the course of two weeks, it still counts…Ronkonkoma remained in second with the loss but a Goonies’ win later in the night kept them nipping at yellow’s heels in the race for 2nd. The Monsters moved up to 6th with the victory.

THREE STARS OF THE GAME:
3rd – Zisser (2 GA)
2nd – Mike McCauley (1G, 1A)
1st – Hogg (4G)

Green Street Hooligans vs Cleveland Monsters

1st Period:
GSH (1-0) – Probie (6) (assisted by Big Mike) (8:10)
GSH (2-0) – Guido (3) (assisted by Jon Herman) (12:45)
2nd Period:
GSH (3-0) – Jon Herman (5) (assisted by Big Mike) (6:30)
3rd Period:

CLE (2-3) – Jack (5) (assisted by Julie) (4:47)
GSH (4-2) – Jon Herman (6) (EN) (unassisted) (12:57)

GAME NOTES:  The Hooligans came out strong in this one, taking the better of play in the first en route to a two goal lead. After Jon gave them a three goal lead at the exact halfway point of the game, purple started pressing and were rewarded with two early goals in the third period. From there, green was on their heels for the rest of the contest but a combination of strong defensive play and great goaltending from Jeff Green allowed them to hold on for the victory and remain undefeated on the season.

THREE STARS OF THE GAME:
3rd – Big Mike (2A)
2nd – Julie (1G, 1A)
1st – Jon Herman (2G, 1A)

Stud Puffins vs Goonies

2nd Period:
GOO (1-0) – Jeff Starr (1) (assisted by Matt K) (4:50)
PUF (1-1) – SBJ (5) (assisted by Marcella) (5:45)
3rd Period:
GOO (2-1) – Cherie (4) (SH) (unassisted) (8:44)
GOO (3-1) – Jeff Starr (2) (assisted by Ben) (10:01)
GOO (4-1) – Rockoff (4) (assisted by Emily) (10:20)

GAME NOTES:  The Goonies were favored in this one but received a strong challenge from an upstart Puffins’ squad that was looking to move up to 4th and receive a play-in bye…Jeff Starr scored his first D5 goal in the 2nd but SBJ matched him, probably because he had money on the game, to tie it up going into the third…the third period was a wild affair that saw the teams trade chances. Orange got a late power play and on that power play Matt of the Goonies intentionally knocked his net off, resulting in a penalty shot for the Puffins. Max made the save on SBJ and just 40 seconds later, with her team still down a man, Cherie came out of the box and ripped a shot high-glove on a shorthanded transition rush to give her team the lead with just four minutes left…Jeff would add his 2nd of the game and Rockoff would seal the victory just 20 seconds later to give the Goonies a much needed win as they pulled to even with the CONDO’S in points heading into the final game of the regular season.

THREE STARS OF THE GAME:
3rd – Cherie (GWG)
2nd – Jeff Starr (2G)
1st – Max Moskowitz (1 GA)

The Charging Cheetahs vs The Bayside Tigers

BAY (1-0) – Davis (1) (assisted by Caitlin) (5:46)
2nd Period:
CHA (1-1) – Sully (2) (assisted by Jo) (8:30)
CHA (2-1) – Jake Braun (6) (assisted by Neil) (10:20)
3rd Period:
CHA (3-1) – Austin (5) (assisted by Riegler) (4:45)
BAY (2-3) – Gabe (2) (assisted by AFrey) (8:15)

GAME NOTES:  The final game of the evening was a week one rematch between the Cheetahs, fighting hard to attain the play-in bye, and the Tigers, fighting to avoid the league basement…Davis scored his first D5 goal when Caitlin and Annie momentarily stopped playing due to a car horn that sounded like a whistle, allowing him to get a loose ball and bury it past Dave…in the 2nd, Sully and Jake Braun took advantage of some busted coverages by blue, with Sully burying a backhander top-shelf from in-close while Braun ripped a shot from the high slot to give the Cheetahs the lead…after Austin extended the lead to two, the Tigers moved Gabe to forward and got an immediate goal, but Dave was solid down the stretch and blue could not convert on their last second chances. Cheetahs would hold on to win the game and inch closer to the bye.

THREE STARS OF THE GAME:
3rd – Sena
2nd – Sully (1G)
1st – Jake Braun (1G)

The Charging Cheetahs vs Green Street Hooligans

1st Period:
GSH (1-0) – Jake Reznick (1) (unassisted) (1:50)
CHA (1-1) – Derek (3) (assisted by Carlin) (3:35)
GSH (2-1) – Mike T (3) (assisted by Guido) (8:34)
2nd Period:
GSH (3-1) – Jake Reznick (2) (assisted by Ines) (3:20)
CHA (2-3) – Sully (3) (assisted by Derek) (10:40)
3rd Period:
CHA (3-3) – Derek (4) (unassisted) (7:00)
CHA (4-3) – Annie (2) (assisted by Derek) (10:41)

GAME NOTES:  In the opening matchup of the makeup week, the shorthanded Hooligans would go for the first perfect record of the eight team era while the Cheetahs go for the play-in bye…Chris Snell had to suit up in net for the first two periods of this one as Dave arrived late. After some early jitters, he exited the game only down one after giving up just three goals in two periods…the Hooligans were using a mostly free agent squad with Probie, Pags, Herman, Joey Bats, Jake, Hill, Klion, Tracy and Jeff Green all out of action. In their place were Mike T, Akhil, free agent Chris, Caitlin and Zak Casca giving them enough people to at least field a team…the Hooligans started the game hot with Jake scoring in the first two minutes to give them the lead. After Derek tied it Mike T put them back up 2-1 going into the intermission…Jake scored again early in the 2nd leading one penalty box observer to state that the game was already over…red stormed back with Sully, Derek and Annie scoring three unanswered, the last of which with only 2:19 left in the game, to give the Hooligans their first loss of the season and lock up the 4 seed for the Cheetahs. The Hooligans had already clinched first overall and would receive the double-bye.

THREE STARS OF THE GAME:
3rd – Jake Reznick (2G)
2nd – Annie (GWG)
1st – Derek (2G, 2A)

Goonies vs The Bayside Tigers

2nd Period:
GOO (1-0) – Mike Ronson (2) (assisted by Brett) (3:20)
3rd Period:
BAY (1-1) – Mike T (4) (assisted by Sena) (2:15)
GOO (2-1) – Shirtless Rob Meehan (5) (assisted by Jeff) (4:15)
BAY (2-2) – Mike T (5) (assisted by Sena) (9:40)
Overtime:
GOO (3-2) – Yetter (5) (assisted by Sara Lehman) (1:37)

GAME NOTES:  The Goonies went into this final week needing to outpoint the CONDO’S as yellow held the wins tiebreaker…free agent sub Mike Ronson got the scoring started early in the 2nd when he buried a rebound off a shot by Brett to give the Goonies the 1-0 lead…Bayside’s offense and passing game were clicking in this one better than probably any game this season, and they were rewarded when Mike T scored to tie it early in the third…Rob Meehan must have ripped some steroids before this game because he blew by two Tigers defenders and scored to give the Goonies a lead and usher in the removal of his shirt from his body, as is tradition…Mike T tied the game when his shot went off a defender in front and past Max…after the Tigers survived a late onslaught to force overtime, Yetter took a pass from Sara and ran in on a breakaway which he would finish to give the Goonies the 2-1 victory and keep their hopes alive for the 2 seed.

THREE STARS OF THE GAME:
3rd – Shirtless Rob Meehan (1G)
2nd – Mike T (2G)
1st – Yetter (GWG)

The Bayside Tigers vs My Cup Size Is Stanley

1st Period:
CUP (1-0) – Scott Metz (2) (assisted by Brett) (0:17)
BAY (1-1) – Sena (1) (assisted by Danny) (3:08)
CUP (2-1) – Mike Tarnow (4) (unassisted) (5:43)
CUP (3-1) – Matt Reape (3) (assisted by Michelle Ullman) (8:26)
CUP (4-1) – Matt Reape (4) (assisted by Jason) (9:15)
BAY (2-4) – Mike T (6) (assisted by Matt Stabel)
2nd Period:
BAY (3-4) – Danny Swersky (1) (unassisted) (3:10)
3rd Period:
BAY (4-4) – Joel (4) (unassisted) (6:00)
CUP (5-4) – Meg (5) (assisted by Ariel) (8:30)

GAME NOTES:  A mostly meaningless game between the two bottom teams in the standings surprisingly produced an all-out scoring bonanza in one of the weirder games you’ll see all year…Zak Casca started the game for Shaun deLacy who thought the game was at 9:30…Scott Metz got the scoring started just 17 seconds into the game…Sena would bury her first of the season to tie it just two minutes later, but Cup Size got a goal from team leading scorer Mike Tarnow and two from Matt Reape for a 4-1 victory. Mike T would cut it to 4-2 going into the intermission…Danny Swersky scored on a backhander from the high slot through traffic to cut the lead to one goal…after Cup Size was called for covering the ball in the crease a penalty shot was awarded to the Tigers. Mike T faked a shot and went backhand but Casca was equal to the task and kept his fake team ahead by one…Joel tied the game midway through the third but just two and a half minutes later, an Ariel shot bounced off the board behind the net and went right to Meg who buried it for the game winner…scary moment for blue as Sena went down with a non-contact injury with no one around her. Luckily it was just some cramping caused by playing a second game in a row and possibly by excessive boozing…with the victory, Cup Size moves up to 7th in the standings and will face the Monsters in the play-in round.

THREE STARS OF THE GAME:
3rd – Mike Tarnow (1G, 1A)
2nd – Meg (GWG)
1st – Matt Reape (2G)

Stud Puffins vs RONKONKOMA CONDO’S

1st Period:
PUF (1-0) – Adam Herman (1) (unassisted) (5:13)
2nd Period:
RON (1-1) – Cheeky (8) (PP) (assisted by Sarah) (4:38)

RON (3-2) – Q-Train (1) (assisted by Hicks) (8:30)
PUF (3-3) – Sweet Baby James (7) (assisted by Adam Herman) (1:02)
Overtime:
PUF (3-3) – Sweet Baby James (8) (assisted by Chris Fullam) (3:55)

GAME NOTES:  In the final game of the season, the CONDO’S faced the Puffins with the double-bye clinched if they won in any way…Adam scored his first of the season in the possible game of his life and added an assist on the game tying goal in the 3rd…SBJ was a monster in this one, scoring the Puffins’ last three goals of the game. After his 2nd tied it up on one of the nicest breakouts you’ll see in this league, he was all over the place in overtime and, after missing two breakaways, buried a backhanded five-hole for the win…Q-Train picked up his first of the season with his son watching from the penalty box…Hicks took a stick to the lip and the offending party was given a game misconduct penalty. Funnily enough, the offending player was slotted to play for the Rehabs on Sunday but Hicks put the kibosh on that…the loss bumps the CONDO’S down to the #3 seed and forces them to play Tuesday against the winner of the Monsters/Cup Size play-in. The Puffins get the 5 seed with the victory and will face The Bayside Tigers in the first round.

THREE STARS OF THE GAME:
3rd – Hicks (1G, 1A)
2nd – Adam Herman (1G, 1A)
1st – Sweet Baby James (Hat Trick)
