Green Street Hooligans (-135)
Red Rockets (-105)
Over 8.0 (-130)
Under 8.0 (-110)
Notes: Doing these previews from Shelter Island so these will be shorter than usual, I have to get back to grilling steaks and live-betting 1st round Wimbledon matchups ASAP. This is the game fans have had circled on their calendar since these two franchises executed one of the biggest draft day deals in history as Probert, lacking a 1st rounder because he’s #2 in all time scoring, traded his 2nd and 5th round picks to red in exchange for the #1 overall pick and their 14th rounder. That extra 1st gave him the chance to form maybe the deadliest 1-2 punch we’ve ever had with him and Sam up the middle, but the question green will face all season is if the loss of depth is too much to overcome. Even though they’re missing a bunch of players tonight, having Probie Sam and Max will give them a chance in any game they play. Also notable: the first career games of red’s rookie goalie James comes in about as tough a matchup as you can imagine. The Rockets are deep and feisty but with a few absences themselves and GM Sully’s possible return to the ice spoiled by covid protocols, I think the Sam/Probie season gets off to a hot start with a victory for green.
Hungry Hippos (-120)
Red Rockets (-120)
Over 8.0 (-105)
Under 8.0 (-135)
Notes: Yellow sees red’s depleted lineup and raises them quite a bit as Hippos currently have 7 guys (with Chris Daly subbing on blue’s bye week) and 0 girls in the lineup. Some last minute sub emails are going out as we speak but with red having Scotty as a GTD and yellow having a highly mysterious female lineup in this one I can only handicap this one as a total toss-up with the under favored in a high cardio game.
Julie’s Football Club (-185)
My Cup Size Is Stanley (+140)
Julie’s Football Club (-1.5 Goals) (-120)
My Cup Size Is Stanley (+1.5 Goals) (-120)
Over 8.0 (-120)
Under 8.0 (-120)
Notes: These two teams are currently at the bottom of the standings but honestly I don’t think either one is really that bad. When pressed to pick one, though, I’m 100% picking the team I drafted half of. Orange was missing players in week 1 but will be full strength tonight minus their goalie but they’ll have Max subbing. Black has some potential but with the Football Club icing a mostly full lineup (minus Lily but that’s expected), I think they’ll take this one. If George and Jaimie are last minute out or if Hilary takes a private jet from Cali and somehow makes it in for this game, action is void.
The Walleyes (EVEN)
The Goaldiggers (-140)
Over 8.0 (-120)
Under 8.0 (-120)
Notes: Jack can’t get in touch with Louis + white hasn’t asked for any subs = I have to think Goaldiggers are coming in hot for this one. Purple looked solid in their season opening buzzer beater loss to yellow and will feature Jeff Green’s D5 return but I’m giving the slight edge to Goaldiggers for no reported sub issues. If both Courtney and Louis are in for purple, line is back to toss-up status. Also this is only the 2nd D5 night I’ve ever missed with the first being back in October 2019. That night featured a truly historic moment with the debut of The Jackuum, against all common sense and the wishes of my own teammates. Will something historic happen tonight? Jack jump in goal and Jeff Green play center? All options are on the table.

Julie’s Football Club (-120)
Over 8.0 (-120)
Under 8.0 (-120)
Notes: Another tight matchup between two teams on the back-end of doubleheaders. This is one where I’m sure the line looks trappy and money will be flowing in on white, especially if they win the first game of the doubleheader. You heard it here first: assuming Jeff Green, D5’s all time GAA leader, has retained his wild goalie cardio from the pre-covid days when he would routinely play 3 games in a night, I’m taking a full-strength orange team to pull the upset against the defending champs.
Please don’t burn down the rink without me – I’d like to be a part of that. See ya next week.
