3rd Period:

PRK (5-3) – Sam Gelman (4) (EN) (unassisted) (13:10)
GAME NOTES: The Jo Robin/Minsky showdown that every Yeshiva roller hockey player was anxiously awaiting did not disappoint. After the Pranksters jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead The Golden Girls clawed back three separate times to cut the deficit to one, but could never get that crucial tying goal. Gelman added a late empty netter to complete his hat trick, throwing his own hat out of the rink in celebration even though that’s actually the exact opposite of how hat tricks are normally celebrated. Either way, he was surely pleased with a 5-3 win that moved the Pranksters to 2-0 on the season.
THREE STARS OF THE GAME:
3rd – KG (1G)
2nd – Jo Robin (1G, 1A)
1st – Sam Gelman (3G, 1A)

SMF (6-3) – Cardello The Empty Net Specialist (3) (EN) (assisted by Andrew) (13:50)
GAME NOTES: Gold played an undefeated team for the second consecutive game and for the second consecutive game they were only down one goal in the final minutes of the game. But the Smurfs’ defense held and Cardello, fresh off multiple seasons of zero goals, buried two empty netters in nine seconds to balloon the lead to 6-3 and seal the deal for blue.
THREE STARS OF THE GAME:
3rd – Minsky (1G, 1A)
2nd – Cardello The Empty Net Specialist (2G)
1st – Chad (2G, 2A)
Mel’s Power Trip vs Merry Pranksters
1st Period:
MPT (1-0) – Keith (2) (assisted by Malik) (2:13)
2nd Period:
PRK (1-1) – Maddie (1) (assisted by Jacob Gitzis) (6:55)
3rd Period:
PRK (2-1) – KG (2) (assisted by Sam Gelman) (8:27)
GAME NOTES: This was a defensive battle, as all yellow games have been and will continue to be this season, but KG broke a 1-1 tie with 5:33 left in the game and the Pranksters withstood a late assault by team Power Trip with the goalie pulled. The result was another W for tie dye as they jumped out to their best start in franchise history.
THREE STARS OF THE GAME:
3rd – Keith (1G)
2nd – Jeff Green (W, 1 GA)
1st – KG (GWG)

HRT (2-1) – Murad (1) (assisted by Ryann) (13:41)
2nd Period:

SMF (5-3) – Andrew (4) (PP) (assisted by Sam) (8:53)
SMF (6-3) – Cardello (4) (EN) (assisted by Andrew) (12:43)
GAME NOTES: A heavyweight showdown between the two top rated teams in the preseason power rankings lived up to the hype as the teams traded goals, chances, saves and slashes throughout the entire 42 minutes. In the end Annie’s two goals were the difference and Cardello’s continued empty net heroics sealed the deal for The Smurf. A 6-3 win that moves blue to 5-0 on the season and sends the fans to Dorrian’s.
THREE STARS OF THE GAME:
3rd – Ryann (2A)
2nd – Cardello (1G, 1A)
1st – Annie (2G)

The Golden Girls vs Julie’s Football Club
1st Period:
JFC (1-0) – Mitch (1) (assisted by Gus) (1:01)
GLD (1-1) – Ellie (1) (assisted by Aryeh Minsky) (4:25)
GLD (2-1) – Aryeh Minsky (2) (assisted by Joe) (8:00)
2nd Period:
JFC (2-2) – Alex Merone (2) (assisted by Mitch) (4:14)
JFC (3-2) – Jared (2) (assisted by Cherie) (6:43)
GLD (3-3) – Aryeh Minsky (3) (unassisted) (8:43)
JFC (4-3) – Cherie (2) (unassisted) (12:10)
3rd Period:
JFC (5-3) – Jared (3) (assisted by Julie) (11:47)
GAME NOTES: I legitimately had no idea which way this game would go as both teams finally had their lineups and looked to be incredibly evenly matched. Gold was the lean but orange took advantage of some defensive breakdowns with timely scoring and a few big Zisser saves late to pick up a two goal victory, exactly as Sal predicted before the game. Damn.
THREE STARS OF THE GAME:
3rd – Aryeh Minsky (2G, 1A)
2nd – Jared (2G)
1st – Cherie (GWG, A)
Red Cheeks vs Merry Pranksters
1st Period:
RED (1-0) – Luca (1) (assisted by Jason Reape) (13:32)
2nd Period:
RED (2-0) – Luca (2) (assisted by Sophie) (4:38)
3rd Period:
PRK (1-2) – Sam Gelman (5) (assisted by Joel) 5:00)
RED (3-1) – Campbell (1) (assisted by Jason REape) (6:59)
GAME NOTES: At long last, the Red Cheeks finally make their season debut. Incredibly, it took until the 15th game of the season and by the end of the night there would be a team with seven times more games played than them. Regardless of scheduling shenanigans and accusations of plagiarism with regards to team name (seriously though, how is it there are only ten teams in this league and two of them have Cheeks in their name? Should I start a Cheeks division? Will Cheeky come back to play in it?), this was actually a very tight game with a playoff-like feel. Red’s build eschews top line superstars for overall depth and speed and it sure did work in this one. Two goals by the youngest player in league history and a late one from Campbell seals the deal. A successful debut for the Red Cheeks and the first loss of the season for the Pranksters…that said, if red doesn’t produce a birth certificate for Luca by the end of the month they will forfeit this win and Nate will probably be suspended. Also the Jo Robin stick toss at the end of the video is just chefs kiss.
THREE STARS OF THE GAME:
3rd – Jason Reape (2A)
2nd – Jacob Green (W, 1 Ga)
1st – Luca (2G)
The Smurfs vs Clappin’ Cheeks

2nd Period:
CLAP (3-0) – Ryan (3) (assisted by Tommy) (0:41)
CLAP (4-0) – Nicki Dell (1) (assisted by Chris Fullam) (3:50)
CLAP (5-0) – Pete Slife (1) (assisted by James Dizura) (5:04)
3rd Period:
CLAP (6-0) – James Dizura (1) (assisted by Ryan Levine) (3:14)
CLAP (7-0) – Karly (1) (assisted by Pete G) (9:07)
GAME NOTES: Before this contest a classy ceremony rivaled only by the Met Gala or knighting someone in the 1700s was held to commemorate Jack’s 100th game. Although other players have reached 100 and more with zero ceremony, fanfare or even general acknowledgement, this one for some reason featured a customized hat, ceremonial ball drop, autographed merch and a ceremonial pregame icing. It was truly one for the ages and it certainly seemed to inspire his team tremendously as the Cheeks put up 7 goals just one game after putting up 10. Only Ryan had more than one goal because he’s a selfish player and most likely a selfish lover as well. Black had six different goal scorers and nine different point scorers in this one en route to a 7-0 win that claps them all the way up to 3rd in the standings despite only playing 3 games. In the preseason power ranks I wrote “I have no idea how this team will do but one things for sure: this team is going to score A LOT.” With 17 goals in their past two games, we can confidently report that Jack has brought his standard ethos of shoot from anywhere and score as much as you possibly can directly to the black leopard stripper team. I’m here for it.
THREE STARS OF THE GAME:
3rd – Cam (W, SO)
2nd – Ryan Levine (2G, 1A)
1st – Jack (1G)
Merry Pranksters vs The Hart Foundation

PRK (4-2) – Sam Gelman (8) (assisted by Maddie) (12:24)
3rd Period:
HRT (3-4) – Matt Stabel (1) (assisted by Mike Stern) (6:59)
PRK (5-3) – Adam Herman (1) (EN) (assisted by Tom White) (12:37)
HRT (4-5) – Stern (3) (assisted by Sean Kittridge) (13:58)
GAME NOTES: Another evenly matched toss-up and one of the best games of the year. Pink led 2-1 at the end of the 1st for a second consecutive game and for the second consecutive game the lead would not hold up. The Pranksters rode a natural hat trick, all in the 2nd period, by Gelman to rally and withstand a late onslaught by pink, including a goal with two seconds left, to pick up the W. The late goal by Stern also means that an empty net goal would stand up as the game winner. Good times for the Pranksters who are now 4-1 and in 2nd place; tough times for pink who is playing good hockey but is 0-3 on the back of playing three of the league’s top teams (at least in my opinion).
THREE STARS OF THE GAME:
3rd – Maddie (2A)
2nd – Stern (2G)
1st – Sam Gelman (3G)
The Smurfs vs Mel’s Power Trip
1st Period:
MPT (1-0) – Keith (3) (assisted by Dave Liang) (7:29)
2nd Period:
SMF (1-1) – Len (2) (unassisted) (4:03)
3rd Period:
SMF (2-1) – Chad (10) (assisted by Sammy) (9:09)
SMF (3-1) – Andrew (4) (EN) (unassisted) (13:34)
GAME NOTES: Gotta be honest, I watched very little of this game as the Rangers were in OT at the time. But this was once again a very classic yellow team game this season: super low scoring with between 3-5 goals total. Gotta adjust these unders. In the meantime The Smurfs were able to overcome a 1-0 deficit from yellow team leading scorer Keith’s third of the season and rally for the win in what might very well be a semifinal preview.
THREE STARS OF THE GAME:
3rd – AJ (1 GA)
2nd – Len (1G)
1st – Chad (GWG)
