Notes: Game two of a three game series between these two teams kicks off the week 9 slate. Last week purple just barely got the best of orange with a 5-4 shootout victory in which both teams led at various points and each goalie made some incredible saves, but the goals just kept on coming in a wide open back-and-forth affair. This one should be a little tighter with both teams having a tighter defense, but also having more scoring punch showing up in Tom, Jo and Ariel. Purple’s been on a solid streak as of late but I still personally think orange is just a bit stronger and just a bit deeper. If purple sweeps the season series I’m going to have to seriously rethink that but for now, orange is very slightly favored at -145.

Notes: Neil is a GTD for grey but otherwise this should be a kind of fascinating game between a team built on speed and offense and a team built on shelling around one of the elite goaltenders of our time. Schvitzing has been off for over a week but should have most of their lineup in tow tonight and will be motivated to come out strong for this doubleheader after starting their season with two wins before dropping their last two games. To be fair, those two loses game to the top two teams in the standings and this Schvitzing team is one of the most annoying to play against ever with a murderer’s row of fast, skilled forwards. Now that Joe’s back from vacation to man the D, it remains to be seen if they’ll put Reape back at forward or keep him on the blueline where he’s currently among the leaders in the defenseman’s scoring race. With Mel subbing for Brooke they’ll have some flexibility if they decide to put the ladies on the blueline, but either way I think they’ll have issues burying more than one or two on Campbell while Tarnow, Nate, Kevin and co should be able to sneak a few in. Should be a close one but my gut favors red.

Notes: Game 3 of this ridiculous three straight game season series. My opinions from earlier stand with the caveat that if Pie Pie loses the first one to go down 2-0 in the season series, this line shifts to them at -160 with the extra motivation to not get swept. In general though, I think this game is going to be totally even. I’m still taking orange though.

Notes: Goalie for MilkMob is TBD as we have a shortage tonight but a few possible candidates who have given me nice, solid maybes in this one. In any case, this game profiles as a likely shootout and honestly as close as it gets. MilkMob has played a bunch of shockingly low scoring games this season which is totally unlike them if you’ve followed the franchise for any amount of time. Schvitzing meanwhile only plays one way and that is electric run and gun hockey with the fastest roster possibly ever seen despite Ian telling me he only wants to cherry pick and openly asking his team not to play defense during games (we’re working on that). While Milk has had a surprising commitment to defense this season, with most of their games cashing the under thus far, it seems like the offense is a powder keg just waiting to go off and with Joe, Jordan and Merone back in the lineup after a Friday absence, they’ll be as motivated as it gets to get their team on the right track. Some games, like those involving red or blue, are usually a lot of order one way or another. This game profiles as pure chaos. Even at 7.5, I’m slamming the over.

Notes: These teams met last week and although the spread was 3 goals with the +3 side juiced to +300, no one took it and they missed out on an easy cash as Cup Size actually led by two going into the 3rd period before blue mounted a comeback with a four goal 3rd period for a 7-5 win. This one is tougher to profile with black’s goalie still TBD but with Simon and KG subbing for blue and the Hicks/James tandem looking to make history as the first tandem in D5 history and possibly all of hockey history to win a scoring title, I don’t think a two goal deficit will be happening this time around. But as for the three goal spread…you’re on your own with that one. Over looks enticing though as black, much like grey, only seems to play high scoring games and I really have to start adjusting their game totals to account for that.

Notes: The final game of the evening. A mostly full roster for Milk and for Cup Size. Probably Cam vs Travis in goal and probably a bunch of tired specials. So far this is the 3rd west coast game of the season and they’ve all involved MilkMob. I was under the impression dairy farmers woke up at the crack of dawn to plow the fields and milk the cows but I guess when you’re based out of New York City, you also play til 11:30 and then go out to the bar after. In any case – another possible high scoring matchup that probably ends with a Mob win and a ton of cowbell. See ya tonight.
