2nd Period:
CHOC (2-0) – Yaakov (1) (unassisted) (3:36)
CHOC (3-0) – Hicks (2) (assisted by Jacob Berkowitz) (8:48)
KING (1-3) – Everett (5) (unassisted) (9:30)
KING (2-3) – Everett (6) (assisted by Sam Bodner) (11:15)
KING (3-3) – Mike Arvonio (1) (assisted by Sam Bodner) (12:10)
CHOC (4-3) – Becca (1) (assisted by Jo Robin) (13:45)
3rd Period:
KING (4-4) – Sam Bodner (3) (assisted by Everett) (5:49)
CHOC (5-4) – Jacob Berkowitz (1) (unassisted) (9:21)
GAME NOTES:
Bruger King’s first (and, due to rainouts, possibly only) game without former team namesake Glattman is a rollicking back-and-forth affair featuring nine goals, including three points each from Everett and Bodner. But despite silver showing it could still score without one of its big two it was the revamped MilkMob (now in chocolate) that had the last laugh in this one. Hicks with the celly of the year and Berko with the game winner with under five minutes left gives brown a hard fought, somewhat surprising victory (even without Glatty). 5-4 as the Mob takes down the King.
THREE STARS OF THE GAME:
3rd – Sam Bodner (1G, 2A)
2nd – Everett (2G, 1A)

BGRN (1-1) – Emma (2) (assisted by Jake Friedman) (9:46)
2nd Period:
BGRN (2-1) – Emma (3) (unassisted) (3:13)

SEX (3-2) – Mikey (2) (assisted by Kevin) (8:00)
SEX (4-2) – Brooke (4) (assisted by Sam) (10:52)
GAME NOTES:
Green led this highly anticipated showdown between two of the league’s top teams with just under seven minutes left in the game but a Chad shot that seemed to be going wide until somehow curving in just inside the post seemed to start something for blue who scored on the very next shift and added another a few minutes later. Green put on the pressure in the final minutes but Sophia stood tall (well, as tall as she possibly can) en route to a 4-2 win for blue that keeps them atop the league standings, albeit with the 2nd most games played.

Cookie Monsters vs The Dolly Pranksters
2nd Period:
PRK (1-0) – Jesse (1) (assisted by Nate) (11:08)
PRK (2-0) – Goose (1) (assisted by Satok) (13:50)
3rd Period:
COOK (1-2) – Chris Fullam (2) (assisted by Alex Merkin) (0:30)
PRK (3-1) – Maddy (2) (PP) (assisted by Aaron) (13:15)
GAME NOTES:
As expected, a matchup between top goalies and mostly defensive squads turned into a low scoring battle. It was 0-0 after 24 minutes of play before two Prankster goals in the waning minutes of the 2nd period gave them a 2-0 lead that just felt insurmountable. Fullam did score on the very first shift of the 3rd period to make it interesting but the Pranksters would hang on and add a late insurance goal by Maddy to seal the game. In one of the craziest developments of the Fall season, Jacob continues to be one of the best goalies in the league.

Sexcellence vs Red Bunny
1st Period:
RED (1-0) – Russo (1) (assisted by Maeve) (0:23)
SEX (1-1) – Zisser (3) (assisted by Alex) (9:26)
3rd Period:
SEX (2-1) – Brooke (5) (assisted by Alex) (2:24)
GAME NOTES:
Campbell rebounds from a Friday night of giving up 14 goals and at times trying to soccer kick the ball with a vintage effort, facing over 40 shots and only giving up two goals, each of which went off his defensemen. A 2-1 win for Sexcellence but an incredible game for red’s first rounder who will have to replicate that form into the stretch run if they’re going to start racking up wins and get out of the projected play-in matchup.
THREE STARS OF THE GAME:
3rd – Russo (1G)
2nd – Brooke (GWG)

Cookie Monsters vs Pinky Promise
1st Period:
COOK (1-0) – Ian (4) (assisted by Milstein) (12:46)
PINK (1-1) – Alan (1) (assisted by Yehuda) (13:49)
3rd Period:
COOK (2-1) – Cherie (1) (assisted by Ian) (3:08)
COOK (3-1) – Carter (4) (assisted by Jenna) (5:48)
GAME NOTES:
There are three teams that I can rely on to have tight, low scoring games when they play each other: tie dye, purple and pink. Any game between these teams will inevitably end something like 3-1 with goaltenders making multiple highlight reel saves. And so it goes that a late night matchup between purple and pink ended with some truly incredible saves but a 3-1 win for purple (after pink had previously beaten them 2-0). May not have been great for ratings but I personally am quite pleased to see normal hockey scores are back in D5. The era of nonstop 8-5 games and 30 people scoring a point per game was getting kind of ridiculous and was making these box scores take like 4 hours each (as opposed to the 2 hours they currently take).

Pinky Promise vs Revenge of the Pie Pie

2nd Period:
PIE (3-0) – Rory (1) (assisted by Francis) (4:11)
PINK (1-3) – Tommy (1) (assisted by Pete) (11:21)
3rd Period:

PIE (5-1) – Morgan (1) (assisted by Rory) (9:00)
PINK (2-5) – Donny (4) (assisted by Mitch) (11:47)
GAME NOTES:
There was some concern for this game for orange as Craig was a late scratch and Yehuda placed a supermax bet on pink to win both games on the evening. No more concern though as orange pulled off a dominant victory even without their first rounder in scoring on the first shift and adding four more. After the game an additional bet was placed on Pie Pie to win the cup. A solid value bet for sure but also this team is just a nightmare matchup for a pink squad built on defense but short on firepower. 5-2 orange.

Pinky Promise vs The Golden Gods

3rd Period:
PINK (4-1) – Tommy (2) (unassisted) (10:30)
PINK (5-1) – Kate Hall (1) (assisted by Simon) (12:53)
GAME NOTES:
I had to double check this box score but it has been confirmed that Herman did indeed notch a natural hat trick in this one and despite some solid possession by yellow, pink is built to hold leads and did so here. They also brutally murdered Ali Ahn. Sad.

Shootout Winner By Shua
GAME NOTES:
UMass was able to keep this one close for the 1st period before Glatt’s took over on the strength of a four goal 2nd period. The Minutemen dearly miss Magosin and Source as they get badly outpossessed and Jo Robin gets stoned on a couple breakaways by Cam. I thought this one would be closer but in the end it’s a 6-1 victory for Glatt’s as they stay undefeated on the season.

SEX (3-6) – Brooke (6) (assisted by Alex) (10:09)
COOK (7-3) – Alex Merkin (1) (EN) (assisted by Carter) (13:00)
GAME NOTES:
Without two of their top dmen there was a noticeable dropoff for blue as they gave up their most goals of the season against a full strength and very solid looking purple squad here. Goals from up-and-down the lineup and some timely goaltending from Carl put this one out of reach in the 3rd period as a one goal game turned into a 7-3 blowout for the Cookie Monsters. I have to say I thought this team was going to be bad but they are set up to be a solid middle of the pack playoff squad with a projected seeding in the 6-8 range and the potential to pull off some upsets if the offense is clicking the way it was on this night.

PRK (3-4) – Jesse (2) (unassisted) (11:13)
BGRN (5-3) – Steve Rys (1) (EN) (unassisted) (12:27)
GAME NOTES:
Green shows why they were a preseason dark horse pick as they notch their second win of the evening. Emma leads all ladies in scoring, Shua continues to stake his claim for rookie of the year and depth scoring from guys like Tigri and Maulik make them extremely tough to beat as we head into the stretch run of the season. Also the narratives of what might be Jake and Mo’s last run will no doubt make them a popular sentimental pick in this year’s playoff bracket challenge. Should be electric.
THREE STARS OF THE GAME:
3rd – Mike Tigri (1G)
2nd – Shua (1G)
1st – Emma (GWG, A)
