GAME NOTES: Week 5 opened with one of the highest scoring games in D5 history and the highest scoring game of the season so far, a mark this game held for all of 39 minutes…Luke Sellick set a new D5 record for points in a game with four goals and two assists.  This breaks the previous record of five points in a game held by Probie from Week 1 and Week 2 of the summer season…Yetter clearly enjoyed playing with his new linemate and chipped in two goals and two assists.  Crazy situation when you have four points and can’t even get the #1 star of the game…The Cheetahs were able to keep the game even in the first period, with Jake Thorpe, Dave Holland and Matt Stabel even giving them a brief lead, but Tim K shut the door after the first and the Cleveland Browns’ onslaught proved to be too much…Zach Denes picked up his first two goals of the season in the third period…with the win, the Browns move into first place which hasn’t happened to Cleveland since probably before I was born.

THREE STARS OF THE GAME
3rd – Zach Denes (2G)
2nd – Mike Yetter (2G, 2A)
1st – Luke (4G, 2A, GWG)

GAME NOTES: The highest scoring game in league history saw multiple lead changes, penalties and a wild OT finish…Josh opened the scoring with his first of the season on a great feed from Cherie…Matt Russo had a goal, an assist and a penalty, giving him a poor man’s Gordie Howe hat trick (please don’t fight anyone)…there was some confusion on Rob’s breakaway goal but the crowd, video booth and scorers table all agreed it was clearly in…Ryan Mockler picked up his first two goals of the season, both assisted by “Big Mike”…Courtney, in a relief appearance as a free agent, seemed determined to win the game and picked up her first career D5 hat trick, and the first by a female player in league history…Cup Size was down by two goals late in the third before a furious rally was capped off by a late goal by Cherie, sending the game to overtime…in the OT, the teams traded chances before Zach “ChooChoo” Fein picked up the winner, clearing the Cup Size bench…with the win, Cup Size moves up to a 6th place tie and will face the team they’re tied with, the Parrots, on Tuesday.  The Warriors will look to get off the schneid as they face the surging Hippos in the early game.

GAME NOTES: A surprisingly chippy game ended in the 2nd shootout in D5 history…Henry opened the scoring on a point shot through traffic that snuck by Zisser (playing in relief of Barch)…Ryann picked up her first goal of the season to tie it up on a slick pass from Avery.  She added an assist later in the contest…Creamy had three more points and now stands at a robust six in two games…down a goal with less than a minute to play the Parrots pulled their goalie and were rewarded with a netmouth scramble that led to the tying goal…the shootout proceeded through three scoreless rounds until Henry won it for the Parrots.  With the win, the Parrots keep pace with Cup Size who they will face on Tuesday for a chance to move all the way up to 5th place.  Team Sexy remains tied for first and will face Ball That in the primetime game.
