The Pick: On a week where it seems like half the league needs subs (but nothing compared to Friday’s possible subocalypse), comes a game where both teams will be keeping it civil. Ryann is a game time decision and if she’s out Andrea may sub for her but otherwise both teams will be icing their normal lineups. The Parrots haven’t played in a few weeks but have been a defensive powerhouse, allowing only four goals in three games. Jeff has been a man on a mission this week but he’ll have his hands full with Henry, LJ and a stout Parrots D along with the first goaltender/captain in league history, Campbell in net. In what should be a hard fought defensive battle, take the Parrots to win the game.
The Pick: The Goonies have been on a roll thus far this season, winning every game so far with only one of them going to OT. Cup Size was the preseason championship pick of many but have gotten off to a somewhat lukewarm start. Still, this is a dangerous squad and one of the few that can go toe to toe with the Goonies. While white passes the ball around better than any team in the league, Gabe and Hogg are two of the rare defenders who can stifle the breakout on their own. The game may come down to the matchup in net where Casca will look to continue a stellar rookie campaign against Eitan the goalie and AVN award winner. Black’s on the upswing, but white remains king (or queen) for another week.
The Pick: Ah yes, the annual Fireball Bowl, or as Luke correctly pointed out yesterday, shouldn’t it be called the Fire Bowl? While we’re at it we may as well call it the Fyre Bowl and invite Ja Rule to sponsor us. In any case, the Hippos and Team Coming will do battle with a bottle of Fireball on the line. Each side is missing a few players and thus each side will get a Tremble; a coinflip before the match will determine who gets which sister, not unlike what happens in Zisser’s sex dreams. There’s a lot of storylines at play here: Zisser and Adam playing against their former team, Luke facing off against Ariel after Hicks took Ariel one pick ahead of him, Fireball bets, possible lines of cocaine off the crossbar…even with JRo, Seb, Caitlin, Susie and Claire out of action (and Eli the goon a game time decision), this promises to be an action packed matchup. I’m biased so I’m obviously going to say bet on blue, but it’s really anyone’s guess how this game will play out.
The Pick: The Kids Club got a bit of good news this week as Probie may have escaped serious injury; the results will be known later this week but it’s possibly the season ending injury may not be as awful as once thought. They remain, however, in serious trouble tonight with Creamy, Probie, Emily and Mia out of action and normal second line grinder Steve Friedman subbing in net for Tim Burke. The Cheetahs should have their normal complement of players and have been on the uptick as of late, almost beating the blue team before losing a hard fought shootout and putting up 7 goals on the Chosen 1s last week. -180 is a tough line to bet, but the over is looking pretty juicy.
