On Tuesdays We Wear Pink vs Merry Pranksters

1st Period:
PNK (1-0) – Mike Stern (3) (assisted by Steve Rys) (12:59)
2nd Period:
PNK (2-0) – Tash (1) (assisted by Steve Rys) (2:33)
PNK (3-0) – Tash (2) (unassisted) (5:10)
3rd Period:
PNK (4-0) – Steve Rys (4) (assisted by Justin McNeil) (7:33)

GAME NOTES: Jeff Green was late for the game, as is tradition for goalies in the 6:00 (worst tradition ever), but he made up for it by pitching a shutout in a sterling performance that earned pink their first victory of the season…Gelman was kind enough to let Tash sub for Hilary in this one and she rewarded him by scoring two goals to seal the win for pink. Quality performance but probably not the best strategically for her hopes of ever being approved to sub again.

THREE STARS OF THE GAME:
3rd – Tash (2G)
2nd – Steve Rys (1G, 2A)
1st – Jeff Green (W, SO)

Shootout Winner By Jake

GAME NOTES: The game of the season in my opinion as Bada Bing came within a whisker of picking up their first victory of the year. After erasing multiple deficits they took a 4-3 lead with under five minutes left only for Jake Chap to score his second of the game to send it to OT, then win it in the shootout. Tough beat for under bettors who saw a 0-0 game after one and a 2-1 game after two turn into a nine goal total despite multiple highlight reel saves by Zisser and Max…both Q Train goals were technically unassisted, but both were also kind of assisted by Yehuda…Jake told me he was going to show the video of his goals to his ladyfriend to prove that he, unlike Tony Soprano, still had the makings of a varsity athlete. Being the elite friend that I am, I had little choice but to expedite this process for him.

THREE STARS OF THE GAME:
3rd – Jack (1G, 1A)
2nd – Q Train (2G)
1st – Jake Chaplin (2G)

PRK (6-6) – KG (1) (assisted by Ari) (13:25)
BST (7-6) – Hicks (4) (assisted by Jessie) (13:59)

GAME NOTES: What a crazy game this was. The teams combined for 13 goals, including two in the final 35 seconds, as tie dye fought back numerous times but in the end fell to the rejuvenated Bastards, who in the span of a week went from 0-2 to 3rd place in the standings…the first goal was a weird one as Pigozzi had an empty net and seemingly totally missed it, which would have subjected him to months of shame and mocking, mostly by me. Fortunately, after a 10 second delay, ref Simon determined that the ball went through the net and awarded the goal to black. Had he been high he likely would have awarded the goal to tie dye……Joel attempted to bat a ball directly into the net but it was waved off by of all people Jack who surely loved this brazen attempt to cheat more than anybody…this was possibly the finest moment of Yehuda’s gambling career as he took a live over of 11.5 during the 1st period and hit it with 35 seconds left when KG tied the game. A great way to rebound from a truly brutal Corsi rating in his earlier game.

THREE STARS OF THE GAME:
3rd – Hicks (GWG)
2nd – Jessie (3A)
1st – Sam Gelman (4G)

Bluebies vs Bada Bing

BING (1-1) – Russo (1) (unassisted) (3:50)
BING (2-1) – Dave Liang (2) (assisted by Kevin Mahoney) (8:29)
2nd Period:
BLU (2-2) – Brad (3) (assisted by Brett Marks) (8:30)
BLU (3-2) – Corey (1) (assisted by Chad) (10:29)
3rd Period:
BLU (4-2) – Corey (2) (assisted by Sam) (0:47)
BLU (5-2) – Corey (3) (PP) (assisted by Chad) (10:35)
BLU (6-2) – Ellie (1) (assisted by Chad) (13:18)

GAME NOTES: Another quality game as purple took a lead midway through the 1st despite being listed as a 2.5 goal underdog. Unfortunately for spread bettors that was all they would pick up as Jacob shut the door in net and blue scored five unanswered to take a 6-2 win into the break…Russo scored a highlight reel goal, then almost mauled Rebekah at center ice which surely made McQuade very proud. Unfortunately the audio on the stream was out for some reason so I had to put music behind it and then the original video I cut was knocked off YouTube for copyright reasons so I had to cut it again with a less well known song. Censorship so sad. Not that anyone cares but here’s the video link for the original (aka the directors cut) for anyone who likes classic rock more than remixes of 2008 indie rock songs or just can’t get enough Russo content to satiate their desire for this man.

THREE STARS OF THE GAME:
3rd – Russo (1G)
2nd – Chad (3A)
1st – Corey (3G)

96th Street Bastards vs Big Deke Energy

BST (1-0) – Ariel (1) (assisted by Mike Pigozzi) (1:02)

BST (3-0) – Pete Giuffre (3) (unassisted) (13:57)
2nd Period:
BDE (1-3) – Dom (3) (assisted by Steph Hamilton) (8:35)
BST (4-1) – Hicks (5) (assisted by Ariel) (9:30)
3rd Period:
BST (5-1) – Maddie (1) (assisted by Alex Merone) (1:29)
BDE (2-5) – Ryan Levine (2) (assisted by Dan Ridzik) (8:34)
BST (6-2) – Jason Campbell (2) (unassisted) (10:33)

GAME NOTES: This black team picks up more buzzer beaters than any team I have ever seen in my life. Seriously, this must be the 5th or 6th goal they’ve picked up this season in the final 5 seconds of a period. It’s absolutely mind blowing. Someone should try telling them there’s only 10 seconds left before every shift they hit the ice. Also no one is allowed to live bet their overs anymore. Oh and also this was a pretty thorough asskicking that made everyone wonder if yellow was actually good. I would say Mel probably regretted staying up til 5 AM Portugal time to watch this but who am I kidding, she was probably drunk anyways.

THREE STARS OF THE GAME:
3rd – Dave GDR (W, 2 GA)
2nd – Pete Giuffre (GWG)
1st – Ariel (1G, 1A)

Shooting Blancs vs Red Eyed Peas

1st Period:
BLNC (1-0) – Scott Storer (1) (assisted by Adam Satok) (7:27)
2nd Period:
BLNC (2-0) – Kevin Aylesworth (1) (assisted by Zach Flynn) (5:00)
RED (1-2) – Richard Zemel (1) (assisted by Cara) (10:11)
BLNC (3-1) – Adam Satok (4) (assisted by Scott Storer) (11:53)
3rd Period:
RED (2-3) – Cherie (2) (assisted by Cole) (11:06)

GAME NOTES: The final game of the evening and before the midseason construction break started at like 10:45 which was a new record and absolutely brutal. The game itself was excellent though with a playoff-type feel aided by the fact that these teams are similar in quality and had just met in a similarly close game four days prior. In that one red came back from a late 3-2 deficit to win. In this one, Simon and the Blancs got their revenge with a 3-2 win in which they led early and never gave it up, never let us down. Simon even showed some great sportsmanship when Nate missed the net on a 2nd period one timer. Really heartwarming stuff going into our (hopefully) 3 week hiatus.

THREE STARS OF THE GAME:
3rd – The Jackuum (W, 1 GA)
2nd – Adam Satok (GWG, 1A)
1st – Scott Storer (1G, 1A)
