The Grassholes (-200)
Talking Reds (+140)
Over 5.5 Goals (-125)
Under 5.5 Goals (-115)
Notes: We have a guest writer this week so I’m just going to give brief commentary on the lines and let them handle the game itself as I have to get my ass to the rink. Red is in 1st place and normally would be a fairly comfortable favorite but without Campbell in net I’ve seen them play one game and they got smoked by black. Sophia is having one hell of a year and Campbell is a better center than most players in this league, but assuming green has their big players, they have to be favored in this one.
Guest Writer: The opening game of the night has the feel of a late season NHL game between a Presidents Trophy contender and a lower ranking playoff team. Green’s playoff seed could be anywhere from 4 to 7, whereas Red can’t fall lower than 2. Fresh off a hat trick on Saturday, Campbell is going to look to continue his scoring ways with Sophia subbing in goal. Green is reported to have a mostly full squad, and I’ve been a fan of their roster composition all season, which should give them solid defense, and scoring up and down the lineup. Look for another strong outing from Zisser, and just enough offense from Green’s forwards to lead to a 2 goal victory.
Team Pie Pie (+135)
Mace Windu (-180)
Over 6.0 Goals (-120)
Under 6.0 Goals (-120)
Notes: The most exciting matchup of the night, these teams are de facto playing for 2nd place in this one (and a possible chance at 1st for orange). Both teams will be missing players but it appears orange had some last minute absences including Simon who I received a video of just falling over for no reason during an ice hockey game resulting in what’s being termed “whiplash.” In any case, this matchup of top teams could go either way but with a shorthanded orange beating a shorthanded purple earlier this season, I’m looking for Mace to return the favor tonight. If Fitz isn’t able to make it to the rink in time, though, all bets are off (literally).
Guest Writer: With these teams currently slotted in the 2 and 3 seeds, this has game-of-the-night potential. Neither of them come into this game with their full rosters, but both come in ready to solidify their playoff positioning and lineups going into the playoffs. Orange is missing a few players, and even Simon is rumored to be a maybe due to “whiplash”. Hilarious videos of his edgework aside, I believe he’s going to be out as much as I believe the articles that say Mike Sullivan wants to trade Adam Fox due to his 4 Nations performance. Purple is also missing a few of their players, but has AJ and enough of their core that they should be able to produce. I expect this to be a tight game, but said with NO BIAS AT ALL, Purple is gonna take this one to lock up home ice throughout the playoffs (that’s a thing in this league, right?). Purple by 1.
My Cup Size Is Stanley (-1.5 Goals) (-200)
Crankin’ Hog (+1.5 Goals) (+135)
Over 6.5 Goals (-135)
Under 6.5 Goals (-105)
Notes: Cup Size won’t have Gelman, Luca Vellon or Hill. Maroon won’t have Nick, Pete or Sanchick. This is already slightly worse for Hog but add the fact that KG will be coming in for Hilary while I don’t think Hog gets any subs and it gets substantially worse. Corey back from injury and improving every week is the wild card, along with Sonj driving back several hours and coming right to the rink. If he can put up a vintage performance and Ryan just eats minutes, maroon has a chance to pull the mini upset. Otherwise, I’m taking Cup Size by two.
Guest Writer: Both squads are missing heavy hitters in this matchup for sure, but both teams have their goalies, continuing the trend of strong goaltending we’ve had across the league all season. With Nick, Pete, and Sanchick all reported out for Maroon, Ryan and Tommy are going to need to fill up the scoresheet if they want to take the victory tonight, but I’ve got plenty of faith in them. With Gelman and Luca missing the game (and a replacement in for Hillary) Black won’t have the offensive pop we’ve seen from them in recent games, but still should have the depth advantage. The Ryan vs. Sonj matchup is always a classic, but given that we’re playing on Mother’s Day, I have to give the nod to Bandit’s mom and predict Cup Size by 2.
