Championship Week Betting Lines (Spring 2025)

The Blue Streakers (-120)
Talking Reds (-120)
Over 4.0 Goals (-120)
Under 4.0 Goals (-120)

Notes: This is officially the lowest over/under in league history. I’m not sure what else to do after Campbell notched a 0.62 GAA with four shutouts in eight games while blue gave up two goals in two games last week. And so it goes with the most likely result being a 2-1 win by someone just like it was when these teams met back in Week 8. The question is which team is likely to get the early breakthrough: will red solve the blue defense, or will blue solve red’s goalie? There are two major wildcards in all this: one is Carter, Campbell’s younger brother who is in for the playoffs in relief of Kittridge. Allowing a guy to be a playoff sub who won the scoring title in his most recent league appearance was a big ask but it was granted and he’ll be looking to recreate some of the magic he made last summer, albeit without his big brother as his centerman. And the other, of course, is Max who spent a rough 2024 notching just one playoff win the entire year, comprising three seasons, and that one win was over a team that didn’t win a single game. He’s been playing some of the best hockey of his career recently, particularly in Canada, and he’ll need to be at his absolute best to match up with Campbell. Truthfully I see this game as a toss-up and while power rankers may generally agree, the general public is firmly behind red which google confusingly colored in blue.

This is likely to be a close game that comes down to the final minute, if not OT. Tough to see either of these teams win by like 3 of more goals unless there are multiple empty netters. As weird as it may seem, my bet would be on the under.

Notes: Absences galore as Russo and Ben Wald are out for orange while maroon is missing all their girls except Sarah Hoffman, Nick and Ryan. They’ll also have Ridzik in for Corey. Gill will continue to sub in place of Nick but the loss of team captain and perennial top scorer Ryan is devastating to their chances. That said, it doesn’t seem like the public was betting on them even before his absence was widely known.

Orange is the clear favorite in this one and with a short maroon roster, it’s warranted. Anything can happen in a short hockey game, especially with the guts Hog showed last week, but I just don’t think they have enough firepower this week to disrupt orange. Pie Pie to win and advance into the finals.

The public seems to be all over red. But more broadly, they pretty much vote exactly according to the seeding with the exception of a bunch of players on green voting for themselves. Public is not particularly creative it would seem. Whether they are right, we’ll find out tonight. See you then.
