GAME NOTES:
A mini-upset in game one as the Pranksters pick up where they left off in the spring, scoring 4 goals in the first 15 minutes of this game to take a commanding early lead. Shake n’ Bake did eventually mount a comeback at the end once they realized Nate probably wasn’t showing up and got James off the bench and into the game for this one, but it was too late as Sonj, Gelman, Satok and co were able to hold the fort despite a late rally and a Levine hat trick. A career high three points for Agaby and a 5-3 Pranksters win to kick off the summer season.

GAME NOTES:
Red was shorthanded in this one and without team leader and strategist Campbell, the upstart Hootie & The Doug Fish Franchise proved to have too much firepower. Nate did give Red Day a 1-0 lead on the PP midway through the 2nd but it was short lived as just three minutes later they were down 2-1 and it only got worse from there. It’ll be an interesting rematch on July 10 when red has a full(er) roster and green apparently won’t have Lucas but for now, it goes in the books as a 7-2 win for camo.

GAME NOTES:
One of the crazier games in league history reminding me of last summers Egg/Duck showdowns which ended 5-4 and 7-6. Glatt’s had to be installed as the pregame favorite as the two time defending champs, #1 in the preseason power rankings and having not lost a single game in almost nine months. That meant if Zuck slept with a Stumble Inn regular on the evening of their last loss, his child could have been born on this night. A somewhat disturbing and surprisingly plausible thought, nonetheless there was a similarly surprising influx of late money coming in on Shake n’ Bake right before the game but seeing as it was coming from the Shake n’ Bake captain and Yehuda I didn’t pay it much mind. Well, what a bet it turned out to be as navy rallied from an early 2-0 deficit and a 2nd period 6-3 deficit, blew their own one goal lead with three minutes remaining only to get the winner with 15 seconds left. Five goals from Levine delivered one of the great single-game performances in recent memory and with eight goals on the night he’s the early favorite for the scoring title. Also a slight misreading of the stats by ball hockey legend Scott Storer led him to believe he scored all eight in this game. Wouldn’t that have been something.

A shockingly high scoring game yet again as black erased two separate two goal deficits to force OT with under a minute left on Hicks’ 3rd of the game which exceeded his entire goal total from the spring. But after 3 and a half minutes of back-and-forth but honestly kind of uneventful OT, Chad completed his own hat trick to seal the season opening win for blue.

GAME NOTES:
A championship rematch in the final game of the evening and the story for purple was Carl making multiple highlight reel saves and earning a star despite four goals allowed and the play of their 6th round rookie who leads the team in scoring and is the current -700 favorite for rookie of the year. Glatt’s, as always, would not go down without a fight and brought the offensive pressure in the 3rd but despite 10 goals being scored in the first two periods, neither team could break through in the final frame and The Royal Sampler was able to hold on for a season opening 6-4 win.
