GAME NOTES: The rematch of Week 6’s shocking Hooligans blowout went a little better for orange, but just slightly so. For the first two periods, this was an extremely gutsy effort by an undermanned Royals squad as they led the 2nd place Hooligans 2-1 at the 2nd intermission. Sadly it was all Hooligans from there as green scored five unanswered goals to pick up a 6-2 win that looked far more dominating on paper than it really was. Brutal beat for Royals +2.5 backers who looked to have this one in the bag…Scotty made a rare appearance on D, scored and had so much fun that he said he’s switching to defense full time. No word on how Russo feels about that…Probert picked up his first hat trick since week two of last season, despite his self-described rebrand to an assist man which no one is buying….Westley continues to prove his 2nd round draft selection was no fluke as he picked up 3 more points and is currently 3rd in the scoring race…goalies for this one were Max for the Hooligans and Jeff Green, making his D5 return after almost 3 years, for the Royals. He’s expected to return next season although odds are the Hippos won’t be drafting him.

THREE STARS OF THE GAME:
3rd – ScottyK (1G)
2nd – Westley (1G, 2A)
1st – Probie (3G, 1A)

Hungry Hippos vs The Grapes

1st Period:
HIP (1-0) – Neil (12) (assisted by Jared) (3:18)
HIP (2-0) – Neil (13) (assisted by Meatbox) (6:58)
GRP (1-2) – Josh Wagner (5) (assisted by Kev) (11:02)
2nd Period:
GRP (2-2) – Free Agent Ellie (2) (unassisted) (14:10)
3rd Period:
HIP (3-2) – Hicks (4) (assisted by Neil) (7:39)
HIP (4-2) – Will Gill (3) (EN) (unassisted) (14:16)
GRP (3-4) – Jack (8) (assisted by Tony D) (14:59)

GAME NOTES: The latest chapter in the yellow/purple rivalry saw Neil pick up two early goals and an assist as the Hippos hung on for a 4-3 victory. Will Gill picked up a late empty netter that ended up being the game winner after Jack “Garbage Time” McGinty scored with a second left in the game just in case anyone bet on Grapes +1.5…free agent Ellie continued her reign of terror as, just a week after scoring the winner for the Kraken, she tied the game in the 2nd for the Grapes…as with many games on the evening, this one did not have the audience it deserves as everyone was watching Rangers/Pens in the scorer’s box or at the Garden. These people have no respect for real hockey rivalries. Thankfully this game involved no one’s goalie being run and did not take 5 hours to complete…this was a fairly huge win for the Hippos as it keeps them ahead of the Grapes and Blue Balls who both have a game in hand on them. AJ should be back next week and the team looks focused going into the stretch run. Grapes will look to rebound on Tuesday with a west coast game against said blue team.

THREE STARS OF THE GAME:
3rd – Josh Wagner (1G)
2nd – Meatbox (1G, 1A)
1st – Neil (2G, 1A)

SEX (7-0) – Corey (7) (assisted by Joe) (12:23)
3rd Period:

SEX (9-0) – Ellie (3) (assisted by Corey) (11:37)
SEX (10-0) – Corey (9) (assisted by Kelsey) (13:10)

GAME NOTES: This game was expected to be pretty close but somehow turned into a blowout. Maybe it was because everyone was more pre-occupied with Rangers OT, who knows. Game was tight until blue put up two goals in the final 41 seconds of the period and three goals in the first 3:23 of the 2nd for a total of five goals in just over four minutes of gametime…tough night at the office when you tie the league record with four assists in a game and can only manage the 3rd star. Sorry Joe…Jacob the goalie picked up his first career shutout AND his first career assist. The assist is really what got him the #1 star of the game…Corey put up a hat trick in the first game and five goals, one assist in this one. In the other four games, he had one total point. The home/road splits are even crazier: all points in three road games, no points in three home games…don’t ever block Braun’s shot. It is a painful and unpleasant experience.

THREE STARS OF THE GAME:
3rd – Joe (4A)
2nd – Corey (5G, 1A)
1st – Jacob (W, SO, A)

The Goaldiggers vs My Cup Size Is Stanley

1st Period:
CUP (1-0) – Shelly (3) (assisted by Jeff Oberg) (0:38)
CUP (2-0) – Brendan Miles (1) (assisted by Sean Gavin) (4:30)
2nd Period:
DIG (1-2) – Miles (6) (assisted by Adam Satok) (12:35)
DIG (2-2) – Adam Satok (7) (assisted by Miles) (14:41)
Shootout Winner By Guido

GAME NOTES: A late night thriller which unfortunately was watched by pretty much no one as Rangers/Pens was in double OT. And that’s a real shame because this was one of the best games of the season even if it did, as predicted, become super chippy and take years off my life…despite being a league record +450 underdog, Cup Size jumped out to a quick 1-0 lead on the first shift of the game thanks to Shelly. Don’t draft her on your beerpong team but for hockey purposes, she’s quite good…Cup Size led for most of the game before the Goaldiggers scored two in the final 2:25 of the period to tie the game. The 3rd and OT were tightly contested and at time way too physical for this league but no one could get one by the goalies. In the shootout Jeff scored a horny goal on Cup Size’s first attempt but the Goaldiggers would storm back on goals by Tash & Guido to win the postgame skills competition and pick up another point in the standings…this was Corey Blay’s first game back from a multi-month absence due to an MCL tear and he looked great. Cup Size is still alive in the playoff race but will need to win at least one, if not both of their remaining games and get a bit of help from the Kraken on Tuesday…finally, due to popular demand, the TV will be back in the scorer’s box for all D5 nights where the Rangers play. For other teams – we’ll see.

THREE STARS OF THE GAME:
3rd – Shelly (1G)
2nd – Corey Blay (2 GA)
1st – Miles (1G, 1A)
