Week 2 Betting Lines (Summer 2023)

Julie’s Football Club (-145)
Green Street Hooligans (EVEN)
Over 6.0 (-130)
Under 6.0 (-110)

Notes: We started this night with five games and at the time of this writing are now down to 3. Ah, Summer Fridays, how I definitely did not miss you. Tonight we’ve got two teams coming off season opening wins facing off with depleted lineups. Orange won’t have Kev or Dave Liang, their 3rd and 4th rounders, while green won’t have Tom and Aryeh, their 1st and 3rd, and possibly Gil (their 4th). Thankfully I don’t have to get either team a goalie sub and while AJ was the first goalie drafted for the 2nd time in 3 seasons, Jacob Geskin looked great in his debut for green. He was wearing the pads of the other Jacob which barely came up to knee level and will be doing the same tonight. A true pro, unlike other goalies who will remain nameless until the next preview. With full lineups, I’d expect orange to be slightly better. With these depleted lineups, I expect orange to be slightly better than slightly better. Football Club by two or more.

Shooting Blancs (-145)
Merry Pranksters (EVEN)
Over 6.0 (-120)
Under 6.0 (-120)

Notes: Simon is texting me furiously begging me not to cancel this game. He was also texting me furiously earlier in the week about wanting to play goal as much as possible but then when I offered him a game today he said he would only play in pads of a certain size that had sliders in them. Meanwhile Sam was spending much of the week begging for subs but it turns out they have enough to play without them after all. If I could credit both with a loss and possibly a suspension, I would do it. But sadly we have to let them play this game and if Derek isn’t playing (which I think is the case tonight), it’s extremely difficult to favor the pranksters in any scenario, let alone one where white has a full squad coming in. Gelman picked up a hat trick in the opener and if he does it again, tie dye could speed out of the gate to a 2-0 start. But losing Derek is the biggest prank of all. Blancs to win.

Red Zepplin (-165)
Shooting Blancs (+120)
Over 6.5 (-105)
Under 6.5 (-135)

Notes: The Blancs would certainly not be favored in this game under normal circumstances after losing the opener to this very team 4-1 but with 1st round pick Joe Magosin out for red, this becomes a far more interesting contest. Still not interesting enough for me to bet on white against the top team in the preseason power ranks, but more interesting than it otherwise would be. I was told McCauley was thinking about cancelling a trip for this; no idea if that is happening or not but also not sure it matters. Unless Hicks starts lending his testicle pills to Simon, DaRosa and possibly even Cara, white will continue to struggle to score goals especially against a team as solid as the Zeppelin. Red to pick up the win and go to 2-0 on the season. Hopefully no more games have to get cancelled tonight but if they do, blame Simon.
