Week 6 Betting Lines (Fall 2024)

Merry Pranksters (-320)
Red Sabbath (+200)
Over 6.0 (-105)
Under 6.0 (-135)

Notes:
It’s Rosh Hashanah (kind of) and a mini three game slate kicks off the weekend. Gelman tried to move this game for the holiday but then found out that most of his team actually could make it, presumably because they’re not a Jewish as him. The Pranksters have been red hot and won four games in a row while red last played a week ago in a sudden death shootout win over the Halloweenies. I’m not sure who’s showing up for red but a) they haven’t asked me for subs which makes me think they’re generally good lineup-wise and b) most of their players aren’t Jewish, at least in my very non-scientific opinion. Then again I do kind of wonder who red’s dressing in net since their general go-to is Sonj and she’s the goalie for the Pranksters. Would be kind of hilarious if she chose to sub for red as the wildcard over her own team but I don’t think she wants to make Gelman cry on the Jewish New Year; our people have been through enough. Either way, I think this game looks to be a close and low scoring battle, certainly the lowest scoring projection of the night, but Pranksters should prevail and keep their hopes of a top two seed alive in what will, rather incredibly, be their 9th game of the season.

The Grassholes (+130)
Flickin’ Bean (-175)

Over 7.0 (-145)
Under 7.0 (EVEN)

Notes:
The first place Grassholes get a real test against the defending champs and do so with a bunch of their top players out including Jo, Stern, Brett, Ryann and their goalie Corey. Maddy will sub in for Ryann while Ridzik gets the call in net for his first D5 game of the season and I for one can’t wait to see how much action he places on these matchups and what euphemisms he uses for shutout when he bets on himself to get one (opposing team total under 0.5 goals is the standard lingo). Bean should have most of their lineup in and are hot after two regulation wins on Tuesday vaulted them from last place to 5th in the most recent standings update. No word on if Andrew’s jersey is going up to the Bean/Cheeks/PIpe rafters tonight but the matchup between him and Ryan will be key in this one. At full strength, I would have green at something like -200. With the absences they’re facing in this one, I’ve got Bean winning by two.

My Cup Size Is Stanley (+155)
Flickin’ Bean (-240)

Over 7.5 (-120)
Under 7.5 (-120)

Notes:
In the Week 2 lines I favored black my multiple goals without seeing a lineup on the very logical basis that Jenn’s insistence on playing that game despite her not being in town meant they almost definitely had an overpowering lineup. They responded by winning both games by a 12-5 aggregate. Well, tonight Jenn badly wanted to move this game while Bean wanted to play. I don’t think I need to look any further. Couple that with the fact that Doug played maybe the best D5 hockey of his career on Tuesday while Cam is facing a multi-season suspension if he continues to linger around the rink long after games are over and it all adds up to one thing: a big night for Bean as they look to build on Tuesday’s sweep of the Halloweenies. I’m going 6-2 pink. No Dorrian’s tonight but if anyone wants to bring Manischevitz to the rink the league will throw you a few shekels.
